User talk:Campani~commonswiki
Hi - I marked the NASA-Logos as copyrighted because it seems unlikely to me that they are in the public domain. NASA releases photo material etc. into the public domain, but generally not the logos - the NASA logo itself is even mentioned in the copyright notice. As the NASA copyright states that some images are not fully PD (free only for non-commercial use), it would be good to have the exact source of each image on the NASA server so the copyright status can be varified. Generally it is best to provide a source even for images that are PD, so it can be varified that they in fact are. Also, a link to the page that states the copyright (or lack thereof) of the images would be nice.
Thanks you for providing images to the commons. Please don't feel bad because we have to be picky about license-issues, it is neccessary to ensure that people can be sure that they can use images they find on the commons and to keep the wikipedias out of trouble. -- Duesentrieb 15:39, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Apollo´s logo[edit]
From The Nasa guidelines:
Any questions regarding application of any NASA image or emblem should be directed to: Bert Ulrich Public Services Division NASA Headquarters Code POS Washington, DC 20546 Tel: (202)358-1713 Fax: (202)358-4331 Internet: bert.ulrich@hq.nasa.gov
Carlos, I suggest you write to this email to verify if Apollo´s logos can be here. Gbiten 17:27, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)
The NASA License you poseted to my talk page sais: NASA does permit the use of the NASA Logo and Insignia on novelty and souvenir-type items. However, such items may be sold and manufactured only after a proposal has been submitted to and approved by a representative from the Public Services Division (see above information for address, numbers, etc.) in accordance with 14 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part 1221.
This does not sound like "Free for any purpose" to me. In fact, i find the license quite unclear regarding NASA-Logos other than the meatball. Also, NASA states in other copyright notices that some images may be non-free for commercial use, and that such images are labeled specially. As you provided no source link, i can't see if that's the case here. Also i'm unsure if the logos can be used even if there is no such notice attached. The tricky thing is: we have to look at the copyright and at trademark/insignia issues here. If NASA tries to enforce the latter using the former, the license is no longer GFDL-compatible. If thy choose a free license regarding copyright, it's OK even if restrictions apply with respect to trademark/insignia usage (as is the case with national insignia like coats of arms, etc).
Maybe it would be a good idea to ask about this at the village pump. -- Duesentrieb 18:23, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)
--Marcelo Schlindwein 21:36, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Linking images[edit]
Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries), or put the images directly into a category, or do both. Which of those possibilities is preferred is however a matter of debate, see here.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now, see Commons:Really unused. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. -- Duesentrieb 22:18, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Hi Campani, I notice that you have uploaded Image:MLK I have a dream.ogg on March 25 and marked it as public domain. But on the page you attribute it to as a source, it clearly says "used without permission", "AmericanRhetoric.com does not own the copyrights to any of items on this page and has no legal authority to grant or deny permission for the use thereof", and "Copyright inquiries and permission requests may be directed to Estate of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr". If you look at the article on Wikipedia, it says that "King's estate is able to require a license fee for redistribution of the speech, whether in a television program, a history book, a dramatic re-enactment, or otherwise". How did you arrive at the conclusion that this sound file was public domain, and that it was okay to upload it to Commons? silsor 19:34, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I have listed it for deletion at Commons:Deletion requests. silsor 19:43, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)
This image, uploaded by you, has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests since the copyright info is in portuguese. Thuresson 01:35, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I notice this image do not have a source. Do you remember? Thuresson 06:06, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
The images decription page on the en:wp does not contain any license info. Because of its age, the image is probably not in the public domain, see my comment on the description page. Also, when copying images from a wikipedia, please always copy all information associated with the image, most importantly the license and any information about the author and date of creation. Thanks -- Duesentrieb 16:08, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hitler.ogg[edit]
Hi, I find the filename of image:Hitler.ogg not very good. I have uploaded it again whit the name image:Adolf Hitler at the Heldenplatz on 2 April 1938.ogg. I have changed the files on your home-wikipedia pt.wikipedia.org. So far I can find there are no other wikis using it. If you think it is ok you may remove the file image:Hitler.ogg --Walter 12:57, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

You nominated Image:Krumm-hellerpeq.jpg and Image:Fralogopeq.jpg for deletion but I don't quite understand why. You have added what looks like a permission to publish the image. Could you please explain what is wrong? Thuresson 16:44, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Kolmogorov.gif[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Kolmogorov.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{Cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Image:Flamel-figures.png[edit]
Hi, Campani. I found jour name in the history of this image, that's why I come to ask you. The description of the image states, that it shows the carvings on Nicholas Flamel's tombstone. Unfortunately this is definitely false. Actually the central part is a version of a painting under the vaults of the Cementery of the Innocents in Paris (depicting Flamel and his wife), surounded by motives supposedly found by Flamel in the "Book of Abraham the Jew". Very likely it is an illustration from the french "Livre des figures hiéroglyphiques", attributed to Flamel, allthough I havn't figured out yet, from which edition (First edition 1612). If it was you, who uploaded this image to Commons, would you please be so kind to check the source? (Emile Grillot de Givry: "Witchcraft, Magic and Alchemy"). Please help replace this outdated license[edit]
Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.
The images we would like you to check are:

File tagging File:Capa.jpg[edit]
This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Capa.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Capa.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Campani. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Campani~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
