I used your SVG

Hello, I'd just like to let you know that I re-used your Om Mani Padme Hum SVG to create a rotating mani wheel version. I created it because the Dalai Lama said that digital mani wheels work the same as the real thing, and there seem to be no such SVGs of the mantra on the internet. I removed the decorative lotus because too many vectors made the animation jumpy.

I'm not very skilled at creating animated SVGs yet. You wouldn't happen to have any suggestions on how to make it spin closer to the center point, and how to make it function correctly in the thumbnailed version, would you? --Honsaga (talk) 22:33, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

@Honsaga: I don't know anything about animated SVGs. This one seems to spin a little fast! - also I don't think the letter at the center (HRI) should spin - normally the other letters are supposed to spin around it. CFynn (talk) 11:18, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Require for more Tibetan writing demonstration

Hi Christopher,

Have you ever thought about uploding more images to demonstrating Tibetan writings? I have put your several samples in Chinese Wikipedia (see: zh:藏文), but I found these images are not enough for other letters when I compare with the Tibetan alphabet.

I created those files over 10 years ago while living in London. However since then I have been living mostly in Bhutan and unfortunately don't have the vector art files of the rest of the Tibetan letters in that series with me. There may still be copies at my son's home in London which if I can get I will upload. Otherwise I would need to recreate them from bit map images which I do have copies of. Meanwhile I will upload the bitmap images I have.

Categories

Hi Cfynn, as you certainly may have remarked, p.e. by dozens of comments from my side on Mysore-related content, hence started also one file talk as of today (Streets in Mysore) and one category talk before, there's a problem to 'over-categorize' media, so no (external) interested people may 'find' content on Wikimedia Commons by using imho miss-leading categories, as for example 'street scennes', and overwhelming category trees and so on, and i tried to talk about and you have been invited to days ago ... honestly, it was really lots of 'work 'to 'clean' the mentioned Mysore related categories and files, and it's 'boring' to comment (summary) again and again, ask to talk and to be ignored, and once again, not meant as offence :-(

 Comment no offence, once again, and just a hint as out of my present focus on Wikimedia Commons: please also check for example your 'new category' "Night in Varanasi" containing, once again, just one file ... and Category:Ganga Aarti established in March 2014 ;-)

In general, just a kind hint, please check commons:Categories, and so you're unsure, please don't hesitate to ask the Wikimedia community.

Hi @Roland zh: No offence taken, but I'd say a picture that would be categorized as a "Street in city" is one that illustrates or gives a view of a specific street or road in that city, whereas a "Street scene in city" is one that illustrates life on the streets of that city - or images which people might also call "street photography" taken in that city. BTW I do know a little about about categorizing - I developed the digital catalogue for the National Library of Bhutan. Christopher Fynn (talk)) 21:31, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi Christopher. I'm not really an expert, but isn't File:University of Mysore crest.jpg a photograph of a logo? As such the copyright may be owned by the institute, and the commons does not allow for fair use. Hi - Thanks for the input. Being no legal expert I'm not sure about the status either, but the image is a crop from a photograph of a building (Crawford Hall) and so on public display. The photo is of a neon sign of the logo on top of that building. Anyway my guess is that it's probably preferable to the graphic of the logo that was previously being used in the University of Mysore article on Wikipedia - which was apparently just taken from the University of Mysore website. Also since the the University of Mysore was founded in 1916, under the former Mysore Kingdom, it seems likely that the design of the crest goes back to about that date too (99 years). I first read the mantra 'om mani padme hum' in the book 'Be Here Now.' Wanting to use it in my meditation practice I needed to learn more about its meaning. I found your illustration of the lotus flower inscribed with the Tibetan script on the Wiki page. Through that image I found your personal website and fonts. use of photos image

Hello Thank you for your beautiful rendition of Symbol of the Three Jewels. (Chintamani)

I am using this symbol of the bottom of my blank pages in the book called, Resurrection Journey of the Christed Bride, it will be out in 2020. www.christedbride.com

We are also doing a DVD of the book so you can watch and listen. So this image will be seen in this venue also. We plan on using the symbol on some promotional items.

• @27.34.104.166: This design is based on the word Mahāmudrā carved in 'phags pa script as part of the border design on the title page of a woodblock edition of the Life of Rechungpa (Tibetan. I have also checked it with several Tibetan books I have illustrating 'phags pa script. There are however several styles of 'phags pa script this is a style used in Tibet.
