Hi, Could you please change the name of the file? The previous file with that name has been deleted? ArturSik (talk) 10:42, 26 February 2023 (UTC)

File:Comú d'Andorra la Vella in 2021.01.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi, can you please delete the old redirect as well, so I can upload the file that should have been uploaded there in the first place? Thanks,HardDisk (talk) 21:47, 18 May 2023 (UTC)

Meaningless or ambiguous?

Hi Captain Raju,

Would you explain why you consider "File:Viviana Saccone - Muestra de Arte Argentino 200 años en el Mar Museo (retouched).jpg to be a "Meaningless or ambiguous" name?

I noticed already above a rename of yours I wasn't sure how it follows our criteria.

Ideally the person who makes the requests checks it, but ultimately it's up to you to ensure you are following our policy. Enhancing999 (talk) 16:02, 18 May 2023 (UTC)

The page history is confusing, but it seems the rename template was added at upload time. In that case "uploader request" would have been fully acceptable and there is little reason to deny a request because of such formalities. Not much of the exhibition is shown in this crop and the info is still in the description. Otherwise I agree: the name was neither meaningless nor especially ambiguous. –LPfi (talk) 21:07, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
The same applies to File:Viviana Saccone - Muestra de Arte Argentino 200 años en el Mar Museo (cropped).jpg rename not requested by the uploader. The removed part identified the occasion at which the picture was taken. It's more ambiguous now ;) . Ideally, I suppose at least name and year are included in a portrait filename. (BTW, the I stroke out part of my comment, as it was about another user's rename. This talk page is a bit long.) Enhancing999 (talk) 15:23, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
Yes. As this request wasn't by the uploader, the rename is allowed only if it satisfies some other criterion, and naming the occasion is not misleading. I agree that name and year are usually good to include on portraits. Often also the occasion is essential, such as if the clothing is appropriate for the context but not what the person normally wears. Still, what elements to include in the filename is up to the uploader as long as the choice is sensible. –LPfi (talk) 16:02, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
