Artwork template[edit]

Hi, thanks for your internationalisation of Le repos des chevaux. The point is now we get this type of red message :

  • Cette image ne semble pas avoir de description en français... Ajoutez une {{fr|description}} !
  • Dieses Bild hat anscheinend noch keine Beschreibung in Deutsch! Füge eine mit {{de|Beschreibung}} hinzu!.

Can we do something about it ? --Le Passant (talk) 11:21, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Sorry, I couldn't read that. Now I've inserted " |title = " and moved the title text. Does that look better? By the way: I didn't know an English or a German title. Those titles something differ from literal translation. Greetz! Bukk (talk) 12:29, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your unfortunate apparent "langswitch" fetish[edit]

The langswitch template is really for Mediawiki software interface messages (translations of errors, warnings, and notifications), and has many problems when it's attempted used as an attempt to "internationalize" description pages. In particular, it's quite unfortunate that the "title" template has an embedded langswitch, as discussed several times at the Commons village pump, at Template_talk:Title, etc. However, your recent edit at File:Saint Thibaut offrant à Saint Louis et Marguerite de Provence un lys à onze branches - Le Petit Trianon.jpg went above and beyond the ordinary call of duty when it comes to langswitchery nonsense. I really wish you would refrain from similar edits in future... AnonMoos (talk) 10:41, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, AnonMoos! When I retain from my fetish, how can I do better? Greetz! Bukk (talk) 12:35, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bukk, I noticed your edit and was wondering if it would make sence to add 19th-century spelling of Spotsylvania in the title. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 16:11, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Lotje! I inserted a remark under "notes". Greetz! Bukk (talk) 06:54, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Bukk, there is a typo in the filename and in the description. Just wanted to let you know. Lotje (talk) 04:32, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The letters looked somehow strange to me, too. Thx, Lotje! Greetz! Bukk (talk) 13:02, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Tippfehler korrigiert. — Speravir – 23:29, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you...[edit]

... for adding artwork information and templates to some of the photographs I've uploaded from the Wiki Culture Crawl in San Diego. In case you're interested, you can view my entire gallery here. I'm not sure if any of the paintings are notable enough for standalone Wikipedia articles, but hopefully these photographs can be used to illustrate new articles one day. Thanks again! -Another Believer (talk) 15:35, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Gotthardt Kuehl Gesangsstunde sfr.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Your revision of File:C F Sörensen - fra Öresund IMG 1502.JPG[edit]

Hi Bukk. Are you sure that this painting is at the gallery in Oslo? It may be, but it is definitely not the one described in the source. The painting at Oslo features the Kronborg Castle, which is not in the painting IMG 1502. The are both by Sørensen, and the paddle steamer appears to be the same - but that's it. Do you have any more information? Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 20:11, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bukk (talk) 13:41, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Simplified template[edit]

Hi Bukk. Your work on making wikidata for artwork is helpful and appreciated. But is there a reason for making the inscription disappear, like you have done in File:Vilhelm Arnesen - Københavns havn - 1895.png ? Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 02:21, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Rsteen! Thank you for informing me. But I've opened the named file and I've got an inscription line there; at least in the German version. Shall make a screenshot for you? Greetz! Bukk (talk) 07:16, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, Bukk. This is very interesting. If you choose German as your language, the inscription is there, as you wrote, and also if you choose Danish (dansk). But if I choose English (as most people would) it is not shown. No idea why this happens. Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 07:26, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, Rsteen! May I propose that you describe the issue on tne dicussion page of Inschrift (P1684) at wikidata? I have had a wikidata_art issue and it was fixed immediately. Greetz! Bukk (talk) 17:32, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Bukk, I just looked at the file again, and now the inscription is there with language as English. Your other new wikidata items are also fine, so I think the problem has solved itself. Keep up the good work. Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 02:49, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No consensus exists for blanking wikitext from image pages[edit]

Hi, I'll be reverting some of your past edits that blank wikitext. The existing discussions about this clearly demonstrate there is no consensus for blanking valid information from wikitext pages. Adding Q numbers to templates, is very different to blanking all existing information from Commons, and replacing it with transclusions from Wikidata, thereby forcing all future contributors to edit Wikidata rather than Commons.

You may wish to consider whether it would be better to stop these types of edits for which there is no consensus.
