Hello, Buachamer!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Providing more information to learn Bavarian dialects of German.[edit]

Dear Buachamer,

It is so fantastic that you know so much about the Bavarian dialects of German, and I want to congratulate you on this. I have moreover a question for you out of excitement for the Bavarian variants of German, and out of anxiety to learn the a Bavarian variant of German with those wonderful rolling r's, I hope that you are willing to add more information on wikipedia to learn at least a few Bavarian dialects of German, for on the internet there are not many materials to learn this most beautiful, and ancient, variant of German, especially with the interesting rolling r. Thinking about what should be provided, it is interesting for people like me to have more sound samples of Bavarian German, and sound samples of words with the rolling r in particular. It would also be fantastic to have a list of famous German persons who speak with a rolling r, and who are able to speak the Bavarian accent of German. Hoping for your kindness in this, and my thanks for your help, and if providing this information on wikipedia is not at hand for you, would you at least be willing to teach me to speak, and write, this variant of German, so that I can publish some things in the future as well, but of course not without writing about my favour to you for helping me in that case.

Best regards,

Dyami Millarson

Dear Dyami, I send you an email. By the way where are you from? Kind regards, --Buachamer (talk) 19:40, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I hope that helps you a little bit but I'm not a teacher ;) It's a far way to be able to write and speak Bavarian so probably you need many courses for at least a few years and even then it will be hards to write good Bavarian (even for people in Germany). --Buachamer (talk) 19:42, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Buachamer, I was very happy to receive your last message. Have you received my latest message? I sent it some time ago, but I have not received your answer. Moreover I am still very interested in the Bavarian tongue as well as intrigued by the Bavarian tongue. My knowledge of German is quite basic, but good enough for picking up a few things of Bavarian. Best wishes, Dyami Millarson.

I'm sorry but somehow I lost your email in the flood of emails. I searched and answered now. --Buachamer (talk) 08:11, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
