Flickr Upload Bot

Hi, Bryan...are there any future plans for the bot to extract geocoding data when it's included with the Flickr image? Kelly 04:40, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

.gif > .jpg

I've been having problems using your bot to transfer a couple images from Flickr. I made it through most of the process with this image and this one but the images themselves never appeared.

Frustrated, I tried to do it manually, and realized both images were .gif images but your bot was trying to upload them as .jpgs

I'm not sure, but I suspect that's why it wasn't working. Any way you can tweak it to detect the image format, rather than just assuming .jpg?

Thanks. Themightyquill 20:39, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

DRBot

It really does need to run more often. COM:DR has no DRs because there are too many inclusions right now :(. We will also have to start substing things like nobody's business. – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 21:29, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

I could maybe let it run twice or three times a day but not more. Due to our enormous backlog of 6 months it may many hours to do a full run. I could maybe do a run on the last week more often. -- Bryan (talk to me) 09:53, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Could DRBot (if it doesn't already) please subst everything on each DR when it is archiving them? There was also a suggestion to have a bot subst things immediately upon closing a DR (or very shortly thereafter) so that is doesn't bloat the include size while still being transcluded until DRBot comes along to archive. You may have thoughts on how this could be done? – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 21:50, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
That may be possible. -- Bryan (talk to me) 09:53, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Finally, if people start substing {{delh}} etc, can the bot still function normally? Can it look for the appropriate div to see if things are closed, or does it need the transclusion? Substing those templates as well would be helpful for the time between closing and archiving - would remove 2 inclusions per DR that are unnecessary. – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 22:01, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
It needs the transclusion to function in an efficient way. If it were to examine the HTML code of all deletion requests it will probably take double as long to do a full run. -- Bryan (talk to me) 09:53, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

DRBot substing

Should this be happening? giggy (:O) 08:53, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Bryan, see this thread. I dont think this makes a difference for Commons:Deletion requests/Archive/2008/01 but we will see. Multichill 08:57, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Also, I think it would better just to remove the whole line <noinclude>{{Commons:Deletion requests/box}}</noinclude> as that's not needed anymore and only makes a mess of the archive. If you don't want to remove it, can you at least not subst it since it's not included in transclusions anyway? And maybe move it inside the {{delh}}/{{delf}} to fix the spacing problem this causes? Thanks! Rocket000 16:35, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

The substing is done to make the archives still useable. (They are unusable already but this should help partly at least). I have now switched to a proper subst'ing method, so all noincludes should not be included. -- Bryan (talk to me) 19:46, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Just curious why this was moved to User:BryanBot/tln. It seems like the template space would be fine for this. Rocket000 16:31, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Small bug w/ DRBot

Howdy, I don't mean to complain (I love what the bot does and all), but I found a minor bug. As it turns out, if you modify an image and has a recently closed DR - DRbot will stop by and leave you messages for it. The messages DRBot left for me are: [1] [2] [3] & [4]. All 4 of these were involved in the same batch of DR's which were closed 3 days previously. Hope this helps. --ShakataGaNai Talk 00:04, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

DRBot is still duplicating kept templates on the image page

I know you had some discussions with Lupo about this a few months ago, but I don't know if there was any resolution. Example. --MichaelMaggs 17:32, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Archiving deletion requests

Hi Bryan. Can you remind me of the name of the bot that archives deletion requests, and who looks after it? It's hard going through the old requests looking for things to close when many are done already. See for example Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Usedom mannschaftsbild 0708.jpg which is still on the February backlog list, though it was closed on 22nd February. --MichaelMaggs 09:37, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

OK, don't worry - I think there are just some badly-formatted closures that the bot can't cope with. They look OK on the monthly backlog page, but don't have the proper closure tags when you look at the actual page. The one I mentioned above is an example. --MichaelMaggs 09:52, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Hallo Bryan, Ik zag dat je een afbeelding, die ik geupload had, verwijderd heb vanwege schending van het copyright. Ik heb twee dingen door elkaar gehaald op FLICKR. deprecated function in your monobook.js

Dear user, I noticed that you use the includePage function in your monobook.js page.

This function is now obsolete, as the importScript function was introduced with rev:35064 to the MediaWiki Javascript core library wikibits.js. It also keeps track of already imported files.

To allow us to remove includePage from Mediawiki:Common.js I'd kindly ask you to replace its use with importScript (same syntax!). Thanks! --Dschwen 17:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Can you please follow up two OTRS tickets for me? I think the images are copyvios...

Can you please check the OTRS tickets for Image:Amanda Gilman 2.jpg and Image:Amanda Gilman 1.jpg? I can't imagine who is licensing them under creative commons, because the first one is very definitely copyrighted by Fadil Berisha and the Miss Universe Organization. Unfortunately they've just taken down the 2006 profiles and the Internet Archive hasn't captured the image, but I know for a fact that that image is copyright. If you need more proof, I'll dig something up. The second was a professional picture taken during Gilman's reign. I guess I am less sure about this one, perhaps the release came from the photographer, I don't know but in light of the first problem I am highly suspicious of it too. Thanks. Template question take 2

(This was take 1, for reference.) Why does Template:Deletion requests/Archive belong in the Commons namespace? It looks like a template, it's transcluded like a template, all it's subpages are in the template namespace. Did you think it was Commons:Deletion requests/Old? Or am I missing something? I thought I'd double check with you, since it's move protected. Rocket000 04:29, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Improved CC template?

Hi, after a few talks on the theme on COM:VP, and after being convinced on advantages of "CC-by" towards "Attribution", I started to design a more intelligent user-editable CC-template (well, the developer+programming-work would be done by Rocket000).

I now learn that CC and Attribution ARE the same, such template therefore would not be of any use.
