Changing the image name[edit]
Hello, Bradipus! I had actually changed the image name before I saw the deletion request; I've been doing duplicate backlog clearup lately and didn't realise it was in a deletion request stage rather than pure duplicate state until after I'd switched uses. - I do not think the it is normal procedure to delete an image less than a day after putting the warning message on the talk page of the uploader. Please put te image back so we can at least check what Wikipedia pages are using it and take measures to either replace the image or import it in the relevant wiki under possible fair use rule. - Obvious copyright infringements can and should be deleted on sight. See Commons:Deletion guidelines#Speedy_deletion.
- CheckUsage reports that the image is not used on any Wikimedia projects. Projects that allow images under the fair use clause may use, for example, en:Image:Scuderia_Ferrari_Logo.png. - Speedy delete an image that is on Commons since more than a year appears nevertheless to be a bad idea. If the image was there for a year, there will be no harm if you wait a couple of days after you post a message to the uploader that may then decide what he wants to do (such as reimporting the image to his project, 'cause I hope we are not obliged to use the fair use image from WP:en such as Scuderia Ferrari Logo and may choose using our own one.
- Please note that the page you refer to says clearly that "If anyone disagrees with the speedy deletion of a particular file, please convert to a regular deletion request". So should I raise an objection, you would have to restore the image during the deletion process.
- But as the image is not used on any project (information that you give me but that I have no way to check), let's leave it as is. As a matter of fact, I do not care personnally about this image that I had uploaded as part of a group of Ferrari images from WP:fr, to help an editor that was creating photo galleries on WP:fr, and my concern was only to make sure no issue could happen on article using the image.
- So I do not want to create an issue, but I insist that the way you handled this deletion is not the most appropriate one.

- I'm sorry if you feel like you were left out of the process, but there's really no way we can knowingly keep an image around if it's here in violation of copyright laws. If you no longer have the original photo, send me an e-mail, and I'll e-mail the image to you.
- I interpret the sentence about conversion to a regular deletion upon disagreement (and the usual application of it as I have seen it) to apply while the image is tagged by a non-administrator but not yet deleted by an administrator. An administrator would not normally tag an image for speedy deletion, since there should ideally be no delay in the speedy deletion process. Once an image has been deleted, speedily or not, Commons:Undeletion requests is it.
- You should be able to use CheckUsage. Of course, links to the image may have been removed after the image was deleted.
- Regarding the edit to Ferrari, that was an honest mistake. I meant to remove the references to Scuderia Ferrari on other projects, add a "see also" link to the Scuderia Ferrari page here, and convert the in-text references to Ferrari on other projects to proper interwiki links. Obviously I messed up; thanks for noticing it and tidying it up.

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]][[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Please help replace this outdated license[edit]

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
