Removing of content/Blanking of pages? Barras (talk) 16:56, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There are 3 Leopold von Ledeburs in Germany - and since August exists a cat for the right one 78.52.215.124
If you link me the right categories, I'll fix it. I don't find the right one. Blanking of pages doesn't help there. Barras (talk) 17:03, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
de:Leopold von Ledebur 78.52.215.124 17:05, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's a page on de and not a cat. But why did you blanked he page? Barras (talk) 17:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Because this page was rubbish. Have now sorted these 3 Ledeburs [1] 78.52.215.124 17:23, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK! I added the delete tag. Barras (talk) 17:28, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Accusing me of vandalism??[edit]

What the heck do you mean? 85.77.178.43 18:11, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I do. -Barras (talk) 19:14, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why on earth do you think that is vandalism? That is the description in English. Those pages are seriously retarded, as I commented on the talk pages. If you want to help, fix the markup. Before you decide to call somebody a vandal next time, please think first... 85.77.178.43 06:18, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sure... Putting "Puzzle ring" into a page somewhere is the most useful thing someone can do. Maybe you should take your advice to me and use it for yourself? -Barras (talk) 08:32, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Barras!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

CA problem[edit]

Your images are nice and sharp, but it looks like the lenses are causing in certain conditions a lot of chromatic aberration. With different software it can be corrected, the other option is to try other lenses. Regards, --Ivar (talk) 14:49, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I don't have the DSLR for long and so I only have two lenses for it yet. Those recent pictures are made with en:Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens. As for the software, I will stick to the free one. I'm not a professional photographer and so the real good software is just expensive and not really of that much use for me. However, I also took some (nature) pictures with a en:Canon EF 75-300mm lens which are also on QIC, maybe those are better. Again, thanks for your help. Much appreciated. -Barras (talk) 14:58, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is a new version of File:Vyborg 06-2012 Castle 05.jpg, pls. consider re-reviewing. - A.Savin 10:20, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! It is still visible, however, I'm not an expert and so I'd like someone more experienced to review the pic. It's nice and all, but the CA is still there. -Barras (talk) 11:15, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

JarlaxleArtemis sock[edit]

I'm not sure how socks are dealt with on Wikicommons. Special:Contributions/Abafttours only edits were to revert my removal of a lot of categories or pages put under Category:Separation barriers per a few of us rewriting the relevant en.Wikipedia article. During this period I was constantly reverted by JarlaxleArtemis so I'm quite sure the user belongs under . He's quieted down now for this week on Wikipedia and hopefully won't be back here, but FYI in case you want to do something about the account. (Of course, he'll just start a new one if he wants to vandalize.) Carolmooredc (talk) 04:07, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Sorry, but I can't help you here. I'm not an admin or checkuser on this project. It might be better if you'd ask a checkuser about this account. Regards, -Barras (talk) 06:53, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
