Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

- Please explain why you deleted this photo. I'm certain it is in the public domain. BaronBifford (talk) 07:17, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
- Please respect my request to keep discussions where they started, as this makes conversations easier to follow. I am watching this page, so I will see responses made here.
- I am not an administrator, so I cannot and did not delete anything. You can see who deleted it and why in the file's deletion log, which you will see if you click the file name above.
- To expand on the information found there, it was deleted because you did not provide a source, as you are required to do in order to show that the file is in the public domain. As explained in Commons:Project scope/Evidence, Commons:Licensing#License information and the numerous notices above, the source must contain sufficient information so that others can verify the copyright status. "Google" isn't nearly specific enough to do that, and you being certain isn't enough.
- The second time, it was deleted it because you decided on your own to recreate a file that had previously been deleted (again without providing any verifiable source information). The proper procedure for this is to request undeletion with the information that you initially failed to provide, as also explained in the notices above. —LX (talk, contribs) 07:37, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
