Thanks for uploading File:Enescu Festival Proposal.pdf. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Hi,
Could you please clarify what I need to do in order to rectif this issue?
The document I uploaded was authored by my father and is located in the family archives.
The proposal was ultimately implemented as the George Enescu International Music Festival, a business entreprise in its own right supported in part by the Romanian government.
In light of the above I need your help on what and how to tag this document.
Thank you! 75.59.238.249 18:45, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Items in a family archive are not necessarily the copyright holder of the family. Wouldn't a document like this be copyright to the creating museum? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 13:06, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your note, @ShakespeareFan00!
My understanding is that items belonging to a museum are definitely copyrightable.
It is less clear that a document that describes how these items are to be presented is also copyrightable and by whom.
A copyright protects the author from using the work without permission.
But this work (a document detailing the presentation of the museum's collection) can only be used by the museum itself because it is the only entity that owns the curated items.
Your question suggested an analogy. The document in question here is the "interior design", if you will, of the museum.
If you accept the analogy, would then the interior designer or the home owner have copyright of the design?
Here is what a blog on interior design law says ... https://www.idlawshop.com/interior-design-law-blog/copyright-for-interior-designs.
Please note the last item "original written proposal", which is exactly what this document describes!
BTW, I have uploaded this document as supporting proof of my statement in Andrei Tudor's entry in Wikipedia,
"As an Enescu scholar, Tudor curated the newly (1956) established museum dedicated to the composer".
I'd appreciate your thoughts!
