Thank you for converting this to an svg image. However, could you please make the following changes?

  1. Reduce the font from what appears to be 15 to 10 or 12. It looks junky and small with the large fonts. Also please move the legends for Khat, Cannabis, Tobacco, Cocaine and Heroin so that they are not covered up by their symbols. Some of the others can also be uncovered.
  2. Add a narrow border around the outside of the image to make printing easier.
  3. Change the background to white to permit printing. With the blue it was ok, with the grey it is not printable.
  4. And the most important change. Please move heroin to 2.78, 3.00. (Oops.) After you have done this you can remove the note about the error in the position of heroin in the chart. I have no idea where you got 2.0 for mean harm. It is clearly listed as 2.78 in the data.

Sure. I'll get onto it as soon as I can. -Apartmento2 13:50, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done, except for the one about the legends being covered up. I don't understand that one. To me the words appear to be on top of the circles, not underneath.
  1. I changed the font size to 10 and moved some of the words to be a bit more centre with the circles.
  2. I added a border 1 pixel wide with a gap of one pixel between the edge of the picture and the black line.
  3. I removed the grey background
  4. I moved Heroin.
Thanks for the suggestions

Can you also fix the spelling of alcohol? Thanks. Edgar181 15:03, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The legends are easier to read if they are not on top of anything, either the symbol they refer to or one of the grid lines. There isn't much you can do about many of them, but Heroin could be to the left of the circle, and inside the frame, Cocaine to the right and slightly above the centerline, Tobacco above its symbol, Khat to the upper left of its circle, Cannabis to the upper left, Alcohol (note spelling correction above) slightly below the gridline and slightly to the left so that it does not overlap the other symbol, and Anabolic Steroids below its circle. Please add a white background to the entire image, it does not print properly with no background. You might try a very pale blue on the inner box, maybe about 234,234,255? Is there a way of drawing only a half circle for Heroin? I see that someone was messing around with the data table, getting creative about the harm of Heroin and the pleasure of Cannabis, but I see that it has been restored now. Done. -Apartmento2 23:59, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the spelling correction. And thank you for putting so much effort into creating a very nice looking image. Edgar181 12:52, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't have any problem reading the print, but bold print may help those who do. Cool image though, it had never really occurred to me that the harmfulness of drugs could be graphed objectively. LeeRamsey

This is about what it would look like if the text was bold. I don't think it's any better. I didn't know either. I made it because I could. It's just text, circles, lines and rectangles, stuff I could learn quickly from the svg specification and w3schools. Sorry if I sound a little rough :). -Apartmento2 00:45, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
How about increasing the size of the original to something like 680x680? That would mean that when you click on the thumb you get a much easier to read version. Gandulf 19:31, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Version of harm chart using max instead of mean?[edit]

Hi, would you mind making a version of this chart using the max instead of the mean? Personally I think mean is a poor way to categorize the risk, and I was interesting in seeing what the chart looked like using max instead. Thank you Ariel. (talk) 21:39, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Ariel. It was such a long time ago that I made that chart. I'm not even sure I remember how to edit svgs. I'll see what I can do. --Apartmento2 (talk) 07:24, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Prohibition Causes Harm, not Addiction[edit]

Your image of drugs is biased propaganda from a prohibitionist who should be arrested for conspiracy to commit capital murder.

Cocaine for example is non-toxic but physiologically very addictive. Heroine is not as bad either once again when its pharmaceutic grade.

Amphetamine kills neurons and should be rated higher.

Tobacco is very toxic. Liquor is also very harmful. Cannabis is also hazardous when smoked but prohibition slows research.

Other drugs are not even considered, such as methaqualone.
