Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Deleted files[edit]

Hi Antonio1952, the SVG versions are here: for "Nastro Jugoslavia.gif" -> File:NATO Medal Yugoslavia ribbon bar.svg and for "Article5 medal.gif" (I'm not sure what exactly was displayed here), but its either: File:NATO Medal Eagle Assist ribbon bar.svg or File:NATO Medal Active Endeavour ribbon bar.svg. I hope you don't take it personal that I requested the deletion, but it was confusing with various images showing the same ribbon. Other NATO ribbons can be found here: Category:Ribbon_bars_of_NATO. Quando ho caricato la foto di Grilli (mesi fa) non mi ero accorto che ce ne fosse già un'altra versione, e attualmente la "mia" è usata in una WP, la "tua" da nessuna parte, per cui ormai credo si faccia prima a cancellare quella a risoluzione bassa. --Jaqen (talk) 22:43, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao, come forse saprai quest'anno Wikimania, il raduno annuale delle comunità Wikimedia, si terrà a Esino Lario (Lecco) dal 22 al 28 giugno.

Come per le scorse edizioni dell'evento, anche per il 2016 l'associazione Wikimedia Italia intende rendere disponibili alcune borse di partecipazione.

Suggerimento[edit]

Hoi visto che stai cercando di modificare le immagini degli stemmi. Jcb sta continuando a cancellare. Un altro giustiziere ha già cominciato a mettere in dubbio le immagini caricate da Kunstifi ( autorizzate dall'Istituto d'Arte Tedesco di Firenze). Il bar italiano brilla per la sua assenza e la mancanza di decisioni, e prima ancora di capoacità di discutere. Da ex militare so che vanno combattute solo le battaglie che è possibile vincere. Quelle perse in partenza vanno abbandonate, almeno si riducono i danni al minimo. Proponi, come ho già fatto io, la cancellazione di tutte le immagini prodotte da me. Il caso di Kunstifi lo puoi trovare in [1]: sono immagini raccolte dall'Istituto che la responsabile pro tempore mi autorizzò a pubblicare su commons. Per quanto riguarda le mie immagini, l'utilità sarebbe quella di evitarmi (puro egoismo il mio) il rompimento di scatole di vedere degli incompetenti presuntuosi che operano liberamente su cose che non conoscono e non capiscono. Per cui le soluzioni sono solo due: si cancellano tutte insieme le mie immagini, visto che hanno tutte lo stesso peccato originale e se si accetta la cancellazione della prima non esiste alcun motivo valido per non concellare anche le altre, oppure mi si costringe a non visitare più wikipedia. E' vero che ormai questa non sarebbe la soluzione più dolorosa, ma pensavo di poter mantenere il diritto di visitare un sito anche se non collaboro più attivamente. P.S. In base alla recente legge sui beni culturali chiunque può liberamente riprodurre anche da solo, ad esempio con propria macchina fotografica, qualunque immagine di bene culturale di proprietà pubblica. Può detenere tali immagini e pubblicarle con le sole condizioni di comunicarlo all'ente titolare del bene e non trarne, in alcun modo, un profitto. In caso di ricerca di profitto occorrono tutte le autorizzazioni già previste in passato. Sfruttando tale possibilità ho dapprima pubblicato tutte le immagini del manoscritto 4006 della Casanatense e poi ho comunicato alla Biblioteca Nazionale di Roma la mia intenzione di fare lo stesso per i manoscritti araldici in loro possesso. Sono stato autorizzato, come naturale, e ho già pubblicato tutto il 325 e sto pubblicando il 314. Poi un po' alla volta pubblichero, sempre su Armoriale, tutti quelli che hanno e che, intanto, ho già fotografato al completo. Le fotografie sono, ovviamente, di qualità non eccelsa, ma fanno comunque vedere bene gli stemmi. Dammi tempo e arrivo alla fine. Ti ringrazio per l'intervento sul Bar italiano. Effettivamente, a prescindere dalle presenti difficoltà, il lavoro sui manoscritti non avrebbe mai potuto finire su commons e wikipedia. Non sarebbe stato accettato nemmeno su quella italiana perché le immagini fair use non sono ammesse in raccolte slegate dalla singola pagina di famiglia: valga come esempio ciò che è successo agli armoriali dei comuni. Quando il lavoro sui manoscritti sarà finito vorrei provare a farne una stampa molto limitata e non a pagamento da distribuire a pochi amici. Potrebbe interessarti ? Nuova categorizzazione degli stemmi di famiglia[edit]

Vedo che ti sei imbarcato in un lavoro piuttosto impegnativo. Si potrebbe provare a chiedere l'intervento di qualche botolatore visto che i criteri sono estremamente semplici e uno script sarebbe in grado di ottenere il risultato evitando che tu debba chiedere proroghe al Padreterno per poter finire. Già che ci sentiamo, volevo chiederti se hai mai lavorato con le informazioni di wikidata: in particolare hai già utilizzato il loro sistema di codificazione ? Ho visto che sono state inserite in wikidata un gran numero di voci raggruppate come figura araldica e, credo, ce ne saranno altre appartenenti ad altri gruppi. Per ora stoi caricando sul dizionario di armoriale i link ai codici di wikidata in modo da poterli domani utilizzare, se trovo un modo utile di farlo. --Massimop (talk) 20:53, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
