That image may ultimately have problems, but it is not a matter for speedy deletion, because under U.S. copyright law, clothing and costumes actually being worn by people are generally considered predominantly "functional" or "utilitarian" in character... Inappropriate speedy tagging[edit]

Now that I see that you're doing this to many dozens of images, it would be nice if you had really closely examined the matter before unilaterally taking drastic inappropriate actions... AnonMoos (talk) 07:30, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, you happen to be more wrong than right (as far as the law of the United States is concerned, at least). The proper way to do things would have been to nominate the images for deletion, where the matter could be properly discussed. Nominating images for speedy deletion, was the wrong thing to do, since that should only be done when there is nothing to discuss -- which is unfortunately not the case here. The Wikimedia servers are physically located in Florida. Sometimes both U.S. law and the laws of another country apply, but U.S. law is generally the starting point here. AnonMoos (talk) 08:48, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Dude, Commons doesn't accept fair use images becauses it chooses not to, and the master servers are in the United States. But it's really pointless to try to debate the matter with me, when you really need to be perusing pages such as Commons:Licencing#Interaction_of_United_States_copyright_law_and_non-US_copyright_law (linked from every editing form on this site). Hi, I just want to let you know that I turned the copyvio on this file into a regular DR. Your comments are welcome there.
Also, it would be nice of you to take into account AnonMoos's comments above. It would be much easier to discuss the issue of costumes in one single DR where you could list all images that you think are copyvios. This is definitely not a matter of speedy deletion. Thank you. --Tryphon (talk) 14:11, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I actually created another page to collect all the images of costumes that you tagged as copyvios. If you find more images of costumes that you want to nominate for deletion, please add them to that page and tag the image with {{delete|Derivative work: costume of ...|Images of costumes tagged as copyvios by AnimeFan}} instead of {{copyvio}}. Thank you. --Tryphon (talk) 15:13, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AnimeFan, you inserted a {{Copyvio}} template in the pages of both files, asking for speedy deletion. Both files have been filed for deletion in the past and in both cases the result of the DR was to keep these images, see here. Please be very restrictive with the use of {{Copyvio}} tags as noted above. They are to be used for obvious cases only. --AFBorchert (talk) 07:43, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've tagged a lot of files with {{Copyvio}}. As these are not clear copy violation i'll remove the template. Please open a regular deletion request. Multichill (talk) 10:44, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
