Hi AngMoKio - I had already voted on the revised version, but my computer had logged me out without warning me (very annoying when it does this!). I've reinstated my correct signature - MPF 21:54, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I want to use this photo for Portal:Hong Kong but I need to know your name so I can credit you. You can send me email via my account Ideogram on the English Wikipedia. 66.234.215.157 00:56, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it turns out your commons name is good enough. I am going to put your name as a caption at the bottom of the photo when I use it. You can send wikimail to people by clicking on the "E-mail this user" link in the bottom box on the left. 66.234.215.157 19:53, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Use of  Strong oppose template[edit]

Please see my comment at Commons talk:Featured picture candidates -- Alvesgaspar 11:35, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your notes[edit]

I had no intent to offend you with my comments, and I appreciate your feedback. I thought I had adequately read the nomination procedures but I obviously I don't have a full understanding of the process. I am just a bit confused because my technically improper photo has triggered a philosophical arguement between some of the people that seems to have been brewing before I ever joined Wikipedia. I just wanted to add a simple photo of the last view of Van Gogh as he walked up the stairs to his ultimate death as a matter of history. I obviously placed too much weight in the hisorical value of the photo, but I have studied Van Gogh for years and was fascinated by the realist approach... I seem to have misunderstood the FP criteria.

Thanks again for your feedback, and sorry if I made any comments that offendeded - Your intentions were good. John

  • Hi,i think you put the wrong image to the featured pictures. There were 2 pictures for voting but most voted for the left. Erina said that she doesnt like the centered one (the right one) and most other voters agreed. --AngMoKio 21:39, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
  • You are right, sorry for the confusion. It's fixed now. Alvesgaspar 22:38, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pic of the Day[edit]

Hello, i have a similar problem with Template:Potd/2007-02-03 (de). It is not appearing on the Febuary 2007 page. I have the feeling it has sth to do with the number of digits you use for the day. But i am not sure. --AngMoKio 13:33, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This was not a digit related issue. It was undoubtedly cache related. It is appearing now. Cary "Bastiqe" Bass demandez 15:45, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hey Alvesgaspar, I saw you removed that candidate because of the 7th day rule. But does this rule really match here? There were supporting votes for that pic. It is also possible that i don't understand the rule :-) --AngMoKio 22:03, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Photo request[edit]

Hello, AngMoKio. I noticed your excellent DTM photos and I was wondering if you happened to have an image of Jamie Green, who drives the No.3 AMG-Mercedes. I created his biography at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Green and it would really benefit from a photo. If you can help, please leave a message on my Wikipedia talk page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Adrian_M._H. Many thanks!

Thanks for the picture. Looks great! - Adrian M. H.

Out of town[edit]

I'll be "out of town" for some days, starting tomorrow. Would you please take over the closing process in Commons:Featured picture candidates? I wish you the best for 2007. Alvesgaspar 13:59, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back! It appears we are in crisis in Commons:Featured picture candidates. Except for the excellent bird pictures of Mdf (luckily an inexhaustible source), not many interesting photos are coming in. I have an idea for bringing some excitment to the FP forum ... Proposal: Picture of the Year and Picture of the Month contests[edit]

I have posted a new proposal on Commons talk:Featured picture candidates regarding the creation of FP-related contests and would like your feedback on the idea. This message is being sent to some of the regular contributors to Commons:Featured picture candidates. Alvesgaspar 16:01, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POTY election implementation[edit]

Some help in needed to organize the POTY election. Please check the conclusions of the discussion in Commons talk:Featured picture candidates. What do you think of doing the election in the period 15-31 January? - Alvesgaspar 14:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For an election of the type "one user - one vote" we don't need a period of nominations. A user who wants to vote has just to choose a picture from the FP archive, and post it in the POTY page if it isn't already there. Furthermore a limited period of nominations has the big disadvantage of limiting the vote of the users who came late to a restricted number of pictures. I agree that we must have more people involved before starting the election. I have posted an anouncement in the Village pump but that is not enough, we also should make a campaign in some wikipedias. the problem is I'm a newcomer and don't know much about the way of doing things here. - Alvesgaspar 11:57, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

QI discussion[edit]

There is an important discussion going on here which might result in a snowball with unwanted results. Although I agree that the actual QI guidelines should be tuned up, I can't support a considerable degrading of the existing criteria, towards some "poor man's QI" model. - Alvesgaspar 14:44, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

abandoning POTY 2006[edit]

Thank you so much for your kind words. But I'm not that important. We are all here for fun and when it stops to be fun better leave discretly. But I'll go on working on the usual things. As for the election, it will continue and have an enormous success, that is what I sincerely wish. Alvesgaspar 20:29, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PotD[edit]

OK, I've just put the flag of Aragon because I saw in december another flag chosen as PotD (Image:Flag_of_Turkey.svg 18th december). The reason why I chose that day is just because 23th april St George is our national day and our patron. I had like to see our flag in the main page of commons :-). Nevertheless I had proposed in the past not featured pictures as PotD...I did't know that now it isn't possible. Regards --Willtron 20:57, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Rules[edit]

Huh? I did read the rules. Are you refering to the nomination of my image or to the featuring of the frog one? I apologize if I did make any mistake here, I tried to follow instructions as closely as possible.

Thanks for the comments...[edit]

I saw the comments you left on the critique of my images, (Here) and I was wondering if you think the improvements that I made to the image (sharpened and made b/w) were good...

Oh, and I did not add the background later, I made a photography lightbox the day before I made these pictures,(see This Wikihow Article).

Cheers,

Well...[edit]

I saw the comments, I will upload the image of the watch as viewed from below, in black and white but I will not sharpen it, (I use Picasa 2, which doesn't allow to chose by how much one should sharpen an image)
