Admin abuse

This is a wiki. Editting image description pages is not admin abuse. So don't call it like that. Admin abuse is when an administrator who is in personal conflict with you would block you. -- Bryan (talk to me) 16:29, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

re: user:Polarlys - proponuję ograniczyć się do samego szablonu PD-Polish, bo komentarz a trivial photo, which shouldn't be a subject of copyright at all nic nie wnosi, jest zaognianiem sytuacji; poza tym jest to opinia kontrowersyjna (patrzę na Image:Wacław Komar.jpg - dobre zdjęcie portretowe wcale nie jest trywialne). Trudno na Twojej opinii o jakości pracy fotografa opierać licencję zdjęcia. A komentarz admin abuse to trollowanie. Z obroną PD-Polish jest już dość kłopotu i bez takich akcji. // tsca [re] 16:54, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Could you translate this for me please? :-) Regards, --Polarlys 16:59, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

// tsca [re] 11:06, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Image deletion warning Image:Plac Zamkowy and Royal Castle in Warsaw winter 1939.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! LX (talk, contribs) 17:31, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I try to do my best . Everytime I have only remarks to subject , not personally .
All the best:
Andros64 18:25, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Please respect my request to keep discussions where they started, as this makes conversations easier to follow. I am watching this page, so I will see responses made here.
That's clearly not true. Looking at a few examples just from today, comments such as
  • "it is a problem of overactivity of User:Polarlys"[1]
  • "limit overactivity of our collegue - not president of Wiki :) User:Polarlys"[2]
  • "Your attitude towards illegible photos may be remarked as admin abuse and vandalism. Don't blackmail m e please." [3]
are clearly ad hominem arguments. LX (talk, contribs) 18:41, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
If User:Polarlys takes any argument personally , I'm sorry. But the real subject is to respect the rule to notify every editions tl:nosource to uploaders of image to give a possibility to correct info of the image. It is not question of good or bad will , but a duty of admin in Commons.
The only goal of my remarks is to remind Polarlys, that he has to respect some basic rules of the game in Wiki.
Tagging with nosource is not and cannot be an easy ( speedy) way for deleting images without control and discussion in Wiki community.
I hope you can explain it him probably in more moderate mood.
With best wishes: Andros64 19:05, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Again, please respect my request to keep discussions in one piece where they started (that is: respond here). I am watching this page, so I will see responses made here.
If that is your point, then make that your point (and please back up your claims by linking to specific cases where you think the uploader wasn't notified). Don't make unfounded accusations about abuse of administrative powers (adding {{Nsd}} is not an action which requires administrative privileges) and snide remarks.
Now, to address what you now claim to be your point, do note that notifying uploaders that they failed to add the required legal information as they were instructed to do during the upload process is highly advisable, but it is not a requirement. The onus here is on the uploader. Providing complete and truthful source and licensing information is a requirement, and the upload form clearly states that images missing a suitable license and source information may be deleted without further notice. (It actually says "will be", not "may be", so any further notifications are really just a courtesy and not something which one should rely upon.) LX (talk, contribs) 19:33, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Your image or other content , Image:Order Zasługi RP.jpg, was recently deleted in accordance with our process and policies. You have recreated this content after it was deleted. Please do not do that. If you would like to contest the deletion, please visit Commons:Undeletion requests and follow the instructions there to have the deletion reviewed.

Recreating deleted content outside of process is not a good idea, and doing so repeatedly may be cause for you to lose the privilege of contributing here. Thank you for your understanding.

This also applies to the duplicate Image:Order Zasługi RP.jpg. If you disagree with the result of Commons:Deletion requests/Decorations by User:Andros64, you can make your case at Commons:Undeletion requests. If you instead continue to try to circumvent Commons' policies and procedures, we will have no choice but to block you from making further contributions. LX (talk, contribs) 20:24, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I wouldn't like to take part in nonsensable edit wars. For information : The previous uploaded Order Zasługi RP was self-made. I've inform Polarlys that www.polska-ukraina.pl, where he found the copy of this photo is a page of my own.

Reuploading this image I've given the source as www.polska-ukraina.pl , and notice, that in any questions an doubts it's easy to mailto: andros@polska-ukraina.pl

In case of deleteted images of Order of White Eagle, it was photos of exhibit from free exhibition of Polish Governmental Mint and it is possible that this particular exhibit was photographed not only by myself :))

In any case there are illegible photos ( without any individual features which make possible securing it by copyright law according to regulations of Berne Convention and Polish copyright law). The are simply photos of artefacts made by photograph-amateur.

All these I've written on the page of discussion. Two days after images were without any further discussion deleted. ( Take a look at the page of discussion)

There were made several year before, so argument of Polarlys, that in effect to proove the authenticity of my work I have to give photo of professional resolution is unreasonable and unjustifiable. Besides it is curious , unusual, simly - just unexpected request for uploader.

I reserve to return to this question in the future. However - first - free use of self-made work is copyright violation the same way as an masturbation is a rape.

In this case we have no copyvio at all, and the deletion was unjustifiable and unreasonable. For today it is at least evidence of copyright paranoia and overactivity of some of our collegues.

Best regards for everybody: Andros64 09:48, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Right, it's precisely because we don't want edit wars that we don't allow images that were deleted as a result of a deletion request discussion to be recreated without going through Commons:Undeletion requests. Please present your arguments there so that others may evaluate them, rather than on various user talk pages or by recreating the images. No administrator is going to unilaterally restore your images or allow the images to be re-uploaded based on comments made outside of Commons:Undeletion requests, and in order not to encourage undeletion requests being made elsewhere, I will not address arguments for undeletion made elsewhere.
I will, however, remind you once again that you do need to be civil. Please state your case without making personal attacks about "overactivity" or "paranoia". As I have already cautioned you about this once in the past, there will be no further warnings if you keep pathologising your fellow contributors.
There is no need to duplicate messages regarding this matter on my user talk page. I am watching your user talk page and Commons:Undeletion requests.

--Jarekt 13:48, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:JevhenKonovalec.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool.
