Deletion practise[edit]

{{helpme}} I'm not experienced with the Commons:Deletion policy here on Commons so please could someone help me with these questions: firstly, in principle, if we have an image which is clearly of worse quality than another image, and adds nothing to the overall collection of images, should it be deleted? And secondly, how would this principle apply to these two images:

Well, there are people who want to see such images deleted and there are those who don't. Low quality or redundancy is not a reason in itself for deletion, there has to be a more compelling reason. As a rule, if you think a similar image should be deleted, you have to go through a deletion request (so you can't just ask an administrator to speedy delete it as is the case of copyright violations). If you could convince Commoners at the deletion request, it will be deleted. You could argue for example that the images above are a case of a virtual duplicate of worse quality, but then others might say that it gives more choice and choice is good... etc. You get the point. I wanted to fix something about map on this file:

Here's the thing, when I did for the first time, it doesn't show what's supposed I had made on the big preview, but it shows in the preview in the file history, (which my version of your map removes East and West Germany, and Vojvodina as separate sovereign states because the first two no longer exist, and the third one doesn't exist as a sovereign state), so I try to upload it again, but it wants to overwrite it, which that's not I want to do, so I decided to use reverts, but It was much worse, it's the same result, but overwriting your file is my last choice, so can I overwrite the file with the modified map?
