Hi Alfvanbeem,

If you are interested, I could create a category Category:Photographs by Alfvanbeem or Category:Photographs by Alf van Beem and have my bot add your uploads in there. It would take the bot some time to add them, but it wouldn't involve too much work. It could make it easier to navigate through your photographs, similar to Category:Images by S.J. de Waard.

Binnenschepen

Vraagje. Tot op heden zie ik dat je meestal foto's van zeeschepen uploadt, maar mijn vraag is om bij het rondvaren door de haven ook eens wat meer aandacht te besteden aan de binnenvaart. Maar dan wel gelijk het verzoek om bij die schepen ook een foto te maken waarbij je duidelijk het Europanummer (ENI-nummer) kunt aflezen. Ik zoek me vaak mottig om dat achteraf bij binnenschepen weer terug te vinden. En als de naam er dan niet bijstaat is dat geen probleem, via dat nummer is die meestal wel te vinden op de site van De binnenvaart. Zo doe ik dat meestal, zie: Category:Companion (ship, 2009). Images of cans

Hello, Alfvanbeem. Could you consider giving a license to the cans of the images you're uploading? I am not familiar with the subject, and I can't read Dutch so I cannot research it either. Hi Magog, If i follow the tree on https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Derivative_Works_Decision_Tree.svg, it is permanently installed in a public place (the museum Terug in de Tijd) and free of FOP. Than it should be ok or not? Regards, Alf

Panoramafreiheit refers to photographs of permanently fixed items, namely statues and buildings. Museums are not considered OK in most countries, including the Netherlands. So I don't believe so. However, if the cans are old enough, they may be in the public domain already. Also, we only have to worry about the part of the cans that has artwork on it. Problem with your pictures of 2 Chevrolet Task Force pick-up

Hello!

I faced difficulties with categorizing 2 pickups (4 pictures) you put on Commons:

• File:Chevrolet 3100 Pick-Up (1959), Dutch licecence registration BE-29-06 pic2.JPG
  
• File:Chevrolet Apache dutch licence registration BE-33-03 pic3.JPG and its siblings (File:Chevrolet Apache dutch licence registration BE-33-03 pic1.JPG and File:Chevrolet Apache dutch licence registration BE-33-03 pic2.JPG)

You gave the first one the name "Chevrolet 3100 Pick-Up (1959)". Are you 100% sure of this model year? It has indeed the 1958-59 only rear "Fleetside" bed, but also... 1955-57 fenders, a 1955-56 only hood and a 1957 only fender emblem
If this one is definitely a 1959 model, it will go with the other 1958-59 Apache Task Force trucks. But shouldn't it then be given a better name, so people can understand it has some older parts on it? And if you're unsure, I think it would be better also to change the name to avoid showing a misleading model year.

Same problem with the blue pick-up: 1958-59 bed and 1959 only fender emblem, but 1955-57 fenders and 1955-56 only hood and front fascia. If it is a pre-1958 model with later bed and emblem, it cannot be named Apache and categorized with such trucks. But the name of the picture has then to be changed, so people won't be confused.
If it is 1958+ model with previous model cab, it's without a doubt an Apache, but the name deserve to be also changed, so one can understand why a pick-up with that kind of front fascia is among totally different looking trucks.

What do you think about all of this?

For the record, the 3 different front fascias of the Task Force series, and the one of "your" blue TF.

Hi BarnCas, I do not have much knowledge of cars, i looked up the data on the website of the Dutch car registration of the tax office. There it simply says what year the car was officially registered. So i leave it up to you to do what you think is best :)

Do you happen to know why such a high proportion of the cars appear to have been first registered in the month of June? - especially US originating cars. Ok, I'll do something. I don't know what yet, but I'll do it. Most certainly ask to remove model year (59) and model name (Apache) from the names of the pictures, and explain the "chimera mix" of these cars in the description...
I think indeed it is important not to mislead people seeking for informations on how a car/truck/flower/whatever-you-want looks like.

@Charles01:

• American model year change in July, like in many other countries. So maybe the car dealers give a substantial discount to get rid of as many "soon to be last model year" cars as possible in June? I also vaguely remember a tax story related to former model year, but I don't remember if it was for the USA nor if it is a recent practice or a 50 years old one...
• Not asked, but you'll find a lot of links about registration plate numbers in numerous countries here. And also this tool (fr) for the new French plates. Finding the date of first registration is not the actual purpose of the French tool, but it does it in practice
    But remember that in France:
  • the new plate system will give useful informations only for mid-2009+ vehicles, as the former system gave plate numbers depending on the location of the owner of the car. For 2009 on, a new vehicle gets a unique national and life-long plate number.
  • pre-2009 vehicles can get (and they will eventually all have) a new system plate number. It then just gives the date of their first registration... in the new system, regardless of their actual model year...

Thank you both. I've not yet gone through the answers but it looks as though I'll have fun following up on those links. It is indeed a source of sadness for me that with Italian and (more recently) French cars you cannot simply look at the license plate and know where in the country it is registered. (Though maybe it's not important enough to trigger anything so profound as sadness...)

In terms of getting to the age of the car from the license plate, the Netherlands and Great Britain are both unusual - at least at this end of Europe - in that the same license plate (usually) stays with the car throughout the life of the car. So you really can know - or at least the information is there if you can access it - simply from looking at the license plate when the car was first registered. Ho hum and best wishes. category:Sunbeam 3 litre super sports tc‎

Hi Alf, thank you for all the photos of the old Sunbeam 3-litre which must have been quite a special car. I have a complaint. There is not One photograph of the back of the car. A stern photo is always a great help in identifying cars, too often they have passed me and that's all I have to go on. In this case it suddenly matters because there is disagreement between two "authorities" about the car's rear suspension. There is so little bodywork I imagine a rear view would most probably settle the dispute. (Maybe some were built with one style of rear springs and then some were made with a different style.) But it would have been nice to have been able to show one of your excellent pictures to prove right / wrong.

Uyllanderbrug

Beste Alf,
De categorie voor de Uyllanderbrug heb je vernoemd tot Category:Brug 2007, Uyllanderbrug met het Amsterdamse brugnummer. Dat vind ik onjuist, omdat de brug niet in de gemeente Amsterdam ligt. In Nederland is alleen de gemeente waar iets in ligt, in dit geval Diemen, bevoegd tot het geven van namen (wet BAG, waarin bruggen een subtype zijn van "kunstwerk" dat weer een "type" (subklasse) is van "openbare ruimte"). Beste Paulbe, hier overlappen de grondgebieden van Diemen en Amsterdam elkaar. Theoretisch ligt de brug in Diemen, maar kennelijk maakt de brug deel uit van een afspraak tussen beide gebieden dat het grondgebied in de praktijk anders ligt. Zie deze officiële bekendmaking met een basis uit de jaren 90. Bovendien heeft Amsterdam geen andere brug 2007 (wel hoger en lager) en is er ook geen andere naam voor de brug bekend. Beide aanduidingen komen in allerlei stukken terug.Ceescamel (talk) 11:54, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

• Neem me niet kwalijk, maar dit vind ik niet een bevredigend antwoord. De brug heeft gewoon een naam, nl "Uyllanderbrug". De brug ligt in de gemeente Diemen, niet slechts theoretisch, en ook niet op de grens of op een overlap. Op de webpagina die je aanhaalt staat dat ook niet anders, het is een besluit van de gemeente Diemen, waarin verwezen wordt naar afspraken met de gemeente Amsterdam. Die afspraken betekenen dus niet dat de brug nu in Amsterdam ligt. --Paulbe (talk) 16:37, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Alf, @Milliped: , @Ilonamay: en @Paulbe: , bedankt voor de vele foto's. Ik ga gewoon door. Ik zoek voor een (over)morgen te verschijnen artikel foto's van de Marnixstraat 281, een gemeentelijk monument. Liefst vier (jaja):

• voorgevel Marnixstraat
• achtergevel Westerkade 21 (dus Lijnbaansgracht)
• gevelsteen Marnixstraat met de mededeling Hamer en Bouwershofje
• gevelsteen Marnixstraat met een wapen erop (zwanen links en bladeren rechts met letters SPS en MAB)

Tot slot een verzoek aan Paulbe, wil je nog even op mijn kladblok op de NL kijken over een stukje betreffende de gemeentetelefoon.

• voorts de achtergevel van het laatste pand in de Korte Leidsedwarsstraat, direct te herkennen aan geen ingang.

• Wellicht ook foto's van Reguliersgracht 134-136 (hoekpand)

Vlucht van een kaketoe

Kunstwerk

Als je weer eens in Amsterdam bent, zou jij dan foto's willen maken van dit kunstwerk. Het is gemonteerd in de fietstunnel onder de President Kennedylaan (nabij de Rijnstraat). Er is voor mijn toestel een ongelukkige lichtval. Ik heb een redelijke foto kunnen bewaren voor het artikel, maar daar mag gerust overheen geplaatst worden.Ceescamel (talk) 13:53, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Model confusion

Hi!
I noticed a small confusion between 2 models for the name you gave to a picture you made in the Musée de l'Aventure Peugeot: this "1957 Peugeot 203 Cabriolet" is apparently not from 1957 and most probably not a 203 Cabriolet but more likely a 1936 301 D Coupé (confirmed, if needed, here)
Do you mind if I ask for a renaming for this file? Or maybe will you prefer do it?

Wiki Loves Monuments France 2019

Bonjour,

Le concours Wiki Loves Monuments France est de retour et ouvert jusqu'à 31 septembre ! Déjà 8310 photos ont été importés cette année, vous aussi rejoignez le concours !

Le concours concerne tous les monuments présents dans la base Mérimée (qu'ils soient classés, inscrits ou simplement classés). De l'imposant château aux ruines industrielles, de la chapelle au coin de la rue aux mégalithes en forêt, c'est un impressionnant patrimoine qui attend d'être photographié et documenté. Où que vous soyez il y a des monuments autour de chez vous. Enfin, vous pouvez mettre en ligne autant de photos que vous le souhaitez de ces monuments. Pour information, le règlement est disponible sur le site du concours. Nous attendons vos photos avec impatience !

Les plus belles photos seront sélectionnées par un jury national composé d'amateurs et de professionnels, de contributeurs à Wikimedia Commons et d'acteurs du patrimoine. Un jury international sélectionnera ensuite des meilleures photographies mondiales.

Si vous avez des questions, l'équipe organisatrice se fera un plaisir d'y répondre.

Hi Alf van Beem, you could make life of people caring for images much easier, when you try to add as much information as possible to your uploaded images. The name of the street, the name of the building, or coordinates. Renaming of 3 of your files

Hi!
I took the liberty of asking for a renaming for these 3 files: Renault Dauphinoise photo 1, Renault Dauphinoise photo 2.JPG and Renault Dauphinoise photo 3.JPG: the van doesn't have the 1953+ metal fold above the windshield, so it can't be a 1956-60 Dauphinoise. It can only be a 1939-53 Juvaquatre Camionnette.
The still present trafficators are certainly a hint for a more precise identification of the possible model years, but I don't know for now when they were replaced by blinkers. --- Regards, BarnCas (talk) 02:10, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

Nou Alf en @Milliped: ; een mooie opdracht. Ik wil graag een of meerdere foto's van de watertorenflat aan de C van Eesterenlaan. Die is zichtbaar vanaf de Uiterwaardenstraat; geveldeel naast de muurmozaïek. Ik krijg hem met mijn beperkte camera niet goed. Le concours Wiki Loves Monuments France est ouvert pour une semaine encore, jusqu'au 30 septembre. Déjà plus de 6 000 photos ont été importées cette année alors vous aussi rejoignez le concours ! Cette campagne de contribution concerne tous les monuments et objets mobiliers présents dans la base Mérimée et dans la base Palissy. De l'imposant château aux ruines industrielles, de la verrière décorative au reliquaire, c'est un impressionnant patrimoine qui attend d'être photographié et documenté. Vous pouvez dès à présent mettre en ligne autant de photos que vous le souhaitez de ces monuments et objets du patrimoine français. Nous attendons vos photos avec impatience !

Les plus belles photos seront sélectionnées par un jury national composé d'amateurs et de professionnels, de contributeurs à Wikimedia Commons et d'acteurs du patrimoine. Un jury international constituera ensuite une sélection des meilleures photographies mondiales.
