Hi. Would you mind uploading this picture please?Zigzig20s (talk) 00:19, 29 April 2018 (UTC)

@Zigzig20s: Can you put some categories on it? - Alexis Jazz 09:42, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
@Zigzig20s: Image fixed. - Alexis Jazz 05:58, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
Thank you!Zigzig20s (talk) 05:58, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
What about this one please?Zigzig20s (talk) 06:13, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
@Zigzig20s: Sorry, died in 1936 and I see no date on the picture. - Alexis Jazz 06:24, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
Fair enough. What about this one please? 1936 but in a newspaper--does this work?Zigzig20s (talk) 06:27, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
@Zigzig20s: Don't know, you should ask someone with newspapers.com access. For several reasons, I don't want to apply for their free accounts. I gave you instructions for making a clipping and downloading a PDF before, if you can manage to do that I could look at it. - Alexis Jazz 08:15, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
Fair enough. I wonder if you could help me find a picture of Edith Drake Pope?Zigzig20s (talk) 02:18, 7 May 2018 (UTC)
@Zigzig20s: Can't find any, but my time is limited. Commons:Picture requests is a better place for requests like these. - Alexis Jazz 03:08, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

As I said the files weren't downloaded, the original copies were kept digitally and were uploaded in flickr as mentioned before. In my defense, some files do get lower resolution when posted online in the case of twitter, messenger facebook, and the likes. Thanks! Freyjadour (talk) 15:31, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

@Freyjadour: Please comment on Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Freyjadour and explain (in detail) how you aquired/created the photos because that is mystery now. While some social media will lower the resolution/quality of your images, they don't have to. When you upload a file to Commons, it will not be downgraded. - Alexis Jazz 14:33, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
@Alexis Jazz: I do hope you could notice in time my messages so we could talk about this issue and settle things. I don't know how else to go as detailed as what I've written on the discussion page apart from me taking a shot, with the purpose of sharing the photo as a visual aid to people, and eventually decided to post it online. Hoping for your cooperation and response as well ^^ Freyjadour (talk) 15:31, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Further input on DR Consolidation would be appreciated

I'm not aware on what is the proper protocol for consolidating DRs of this magnitude, but I'm very close to being blocked for it. If you can share more of your views on Commons:Administrators' noticeboard#Creation of page I would be very grateful. -- SLV100 (talk) 18:39, 13 May 2018 (UTC)

@SLV100: there is no protocol. Without question you could have linked them all. I sometimes consolidate DRs that are still open, when a user has made a large number of individual nominations for what should have been a mass DR. But nowadays I just open a new mass DR for that. (and have the files nominated twice)
When Majora (who is not an admin) said "You are violating copyright by copying within Wikipedia without direct attribution", don't worry about it. Majora is wrong. I discussed this very issue with a jurist some time ago and when you copy text within Wikipedia (or similar project) a "reasonable attribution" (as required by Creative Commons) would be to put the attribution in the edit summary. In this case the DRs you copied are signed (~~~~) so they have attribution.
I can't remember what the issue was at first why Majora made a request, but I thought you had only consolidated the new (open) DR from Majora with an existing DR page. I see now you had also consolidated other closed DRs. Some scripts or bots get confused by this. (is what I have been told) The reason for this is simply the whole operation is a mess. When a DR is closed for example, it must be closed with "'''Kept''' or '''Deleted'''. In text. This is endlessly stupid. This is the case because {{Delf}} redirects to {{DeletionFooter/Old}}. It would be much better if {{DeletionFooter}} would be used which forces you to enter a specific result, but guess what, the whole operation is a mess. This is mostly unrelated to what you did, but gives you a slight idea of how just messy the operation is.
So I must advise you not to copy closed DRs anymore. The reason why is a poor one, but in the future it'll be better to just link the related DRs. Sebari threatening to block you was unnecessary, he could have just explained some automated processes may get confused by your actions and urge you to stop without threatening with a block. (even if that would ultimately be the result if you were to persist, but there is no reason to believe you would)
There was, by the way, a less disruptive way to do this. But I don't know if that would been found acceptable:

TechCrunch

Hi, I think it is better to have the whole issue in one place. Regards, Yann (talk) 07:03, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

@Yann: I agree, on the other hand, Srittau/Sebari threatened to block SLV100 for what he did. (see discussion above) I did include the DR in question on Commons:Deletion requests/Getty Images photos from the TechCrunch Flickr account so there was no visible change in any way. I was already working on also fixing the other consolidated DRs this way. I will do this anyway and feel 100% free to revert that edit as well, I won't contest it - but including the DR instead of copying seems like a better way to go and results in the same thing: all DRs on one page. - Alexis Jazz 07:08, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
@Yann: Okay, I'm done. If you really want to, you can revert my edits (and fight it out with Sebari), but I don't recommend it. SLV100 didn't redirect all the DRs that were copied so it was kind of messy. All the DRs can still be read on the current DR page as I included them all. - Alexis Jazz 07:32, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

Naomi Campbell and Anatoly Evdokimov

Hi, I checked this, and I don't see why it was deleted. So I would support undeletion if someone requests it (File:Naomi Campbell and Anatoly Evdokimov (Evdokimov show).jpg and File:Naomi Campbell and Vladislav Doronin.jpg). Regards, Yann (talk) 09:19, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

@Yann: They were deleted on copyright grounds... this is the same uploader that uploaded File:Бейонсе_Beyoncé.png... you suggest he is also likely to be the photographer of Evdokimov, enough to not require OTRS confirmation? Storkk (talk) 09:30, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
@Storkk: I can't find any copy elsewhere, so do you have any other evidence? Regards, Yann (talk) 11:37, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
@Yann: only circumstantial... but is there any evidence other than a username that Evdokimov-show is the copyright holder for any of the files? We routinely require OTRS confirmation from people who upload fan-club type photos, and here the user's three uploads have very likely three different authors. Storkk (talk) 12:03, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
OK, I see your point. Yann (talk) 12:43, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
@Yann: the photo can be found on http://evdokimov-show.com/about/. I don't know when it was uploaded there, archive.org has no copy before 2017. I mailed Evdokimov-show the following (replaced @ and .):
"If you uploaded this photo, please send a message using your business mail address to permissions-commons wikimedia org stating something like "I am user Evdokimov-show on Wikipedia/Commons."
And a few other options for him to take. If permissions-commons didn't receive any mail from the evdokimov-show.com domain or evdokimov-show mail ru, he took the last option I offered: "If you take no action, the photo will be removed.". (or never read my mail at all) - Alexis Jazz 19:54, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

This claims to be an alternate account of yours. If that is true, could you please use this account to confirm? Thanks, Storkk (talk) 08:49, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

@Storkk: yes that's mine. Needed it to test a notification. (I can't notify myself..) - Alexis Jazz ping plz 08:53, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi, it’s me again. Thank you for your advice on how to remove the picture on my Wikipedia entry. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to remove it. Could you please do it for me, as you‘ve offered? I tried to contact the photographer who uploaded the pic, but she didn’t answer. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert Dölle (talk • contribs) 05:30, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

This is about https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons_talk:Help_desk&diff=prev&oldid=300375942. (Commons:Help desk#Robert Dölle)
@Robert Dölle: that's not what I offered. If you would upload a better picture of yourself (or better yet: send your picture with permission to OTRS) I would make sure the current picture becomes unused. It would still be on Wikimedia Commons, but not visible on Wikipedia, so basically nobody would ever see it. Like File:IMG-20161025-WA0003.jpg. It's here, but hardly anyone will ever see it. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 07:07, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
I already did that and nothing changed. Should I do it again? Robert Dölle (talk) 11:57, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
@Robert Dölle: You have sent it to OTRS? It'll be okay, but they have a (massive) backlog, I'll try to see if they can make an exception for this case. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 12:14, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Reinstating talk page comments

Not cool to reinstate another contributor's blanking of a talk page without good reason. See Commons:Talk page guidelines.

Also he archived it at User talk:WPPilot/Archive 1, you could also link to the removal diff. Bidgee (talk) 04:58, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

@Bidgee: The archive wasn't linked in the edit summary or on the talk page itself. I think the blanking action was (unintentionally) disruptive, but I'll change it. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 05:04, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
I have asked him to consider linking to his archives.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 14:42, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
@Jeff G.: "him" referring to WPPilot I guess? Anyway, I had changed your link in the discussion but overlooked my own because I didn't link but just said "his talk page". Fixed it. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 00:04, 21 May 2018 (UTC)

@WPPilot: & Alexis Jazz All I can suggest is that we're all mad here, like Alice, and that in our madness stumbling around, sometimes we do good things, and other times we don't. Lately I've been full-time working as well as moving an 85 year old relative cross country. I find that running herd on a non-compliant and childish elder makes me more tolerant of people trying to find consensus and less-patient with posturing and games since life is too short for all that. If I were the entire project, I could apologize to both of you and beg you to reconsider your involvements, but as I'm just one tiny person, I can't. I wish you would stay, otherwise people with perhaps less than best behavior may push out good people - but I can't make you do anything other than read the few paltry words I offer to smooth over problems. Just remember it takes two to tango; don't give people free rent inside your head. We all make mistakes, but it takes two to start a war. If I could, I'd hug both of you, we'd have a plate or two of cookies and everything would be fine. Please imagine the cookies, and when you are ready for it come back. OK? Please? +1. Nothing more I can add. We expressed our opinions and that's enough. We need not bothered to ensure that our opinion is always considered or respected. Little chances for it in a wider community like this. Jee 05:42, 22 May 2018 (UTC)

Appreciation

From one human to another, some appreciation for your work. I hope your frustrations don’t end up chasing you away from Commons. Have a good break, come back refreshed, take care! Best regards, Ariadacapo (talk) 03:48, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

Your old userpage

FYI I copied your old user page over at User:Donald Trung/Alexis Jazz' old user page because I think that it looks like one of the neatest user pages on Wikimedia Commons and prefer to keep a copy of it to re-read and accessing page histories on my mobile browser doesn't always work for some technical reason. Anyhow enjoy your Wikibreak. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 22:04, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
