Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.

  1. In the text field in the middle of the initial image it reads the general permission: "Fortepan is an online photo archives. All of the images are licensed under Creative Commons CC-BY-SA-3.0 and can be freely used. If you wish to publish any of them, please give the credit in the following format: FOTO:FORTEPAN / name of donor."

Képek[edit]

Kedves Akelaǃ Én egy tudatlan, egyszerű vénember vagyok. Sajnos nem ismerek semmiféle idegen nyelvet, mint ahogy olvashattad a szerkesztői lapomon. Kaptam már ezért éppen eleget okkal, vagy ok nélkül. Büszke vagyok rá, hogy Te voltál az elsők között, aki segített. Néhány cikket sikerült összehozni azóta, nem mindenki öröméreǃ Persze ez így lenne természetes, ha mindenki csak, és kizárólag a Wikipédia jobbításán dolgozna, és nem mások kiutálásán. Nem áll szándékomban bárkit megbántani, hiszen így is sokakat sikerült innen elüldözni. Ha tudnám, mi a probléma, talán sikerülne reagálnom rá. Igaz feltöltöttem néhány képet, amiből nem keveset törlésre jelöltek, arra illetékesek (?). Ha érdekel találhatsz itt néhány képet, amit én töltöttem fel. Szia, örülök, hogy segíthettem, bár őszintén mondom, nem tudok visszaemlékezni, miben s mikor történt. Törlésre jelölt képeket általában nem tudok megvédeni, a huwikin is, itt is rendszeresen alulmaradok a képtörlő párttal szemben. Itt a Commonson most a Fortepan képek sorszámait helyesbítem, egyenként. Képet csak akkor jelölök törlésre, ha az duplikát, tehát megvan mégegyszer, jobb minőségben. A jelzett mappában lévő képeid, úgy látom, rendben vannak, engedélyük megvan, nem fogja őket senki bántani. Akela (talk) 19:38, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Tambo: Pontosan melyik a két törölt kép (fájl) neve? Én jelöltem volna törlésre??? Akkor csak Fortepan-kép lehet. Mivel én is harcban állok a képtörlő párttal, ezért ilyesmire szigorúan csak olyankor vetemedem, ha ha egy kép DUPLA KÉP, kétszer lett feltöltve, tehát megvan mégegyszer, akkor az egyiket törölni szoktuk, de előtte szigorúan helyesbítünk minden olyan linket, amely a régi, törlendő képre mutatott, átjavítjuk hogy a megmaradó képre hivatkozzon. Maximum esetleg szerkesztői al-lapokon vagy archív lapokon maradhat piros link (a törölt képre mutató, megmaradt hivatkozás). Valószínűleg ez lehetett itt is. (Ha én jelöltem törlésre, az csak duplán feltöltött Fortepan kép lehetett, azoknak a címével, sorszámával foglalkozom mostanság, más képek törlését sohasem kezdeményezném). @Tambo: Közben megtaláltam: File:Üllői út, József körút kereszteződés, Corvin köz, ISZU-152 rohamlöveg (1956) Fortepan 6412.jpg, File:Üllői út - József körút kereszteződése.jpg át lett nevezve, közben megtaláltam a duplikátot, azt is átneveztem, az átnevezettek törölve lettek, egy példány kép maradt, új, javított név alatt: File:Corvin köz, Üllői út, József körút kereszteződés, ISZU-152 rohamlöveg (1956) Fortepan 6412.jpg. Kedves @Akela: ǃ Pontosan ezek a képek voltak a vitathatóak. Én rendszeres kapcsolatban állok a Fortepan.hu-val. Tamási Miklós rendszeresen tájékoztat minden eseményről. @Tambo: Nem volt semmi szabálytalanság, csak duplán (kétszer) lett feltöltve ugyanaz a kép (két külön szerkesztő, két külön alkalommal, eltérő címmel, de ugyanazt az egy fotót). Előfordul ilyesmi, nem ez az első, nem is az utolsó. Ha ilyent találunk, kettőből az egyiket törlésre jelöljük, mert fölösleges. Akela (talk) 11:25, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning.
