FPC candidate[edit]

Howdy! per your comments on the FP nomination page, I've located the original image and uploaded it. It's less striking as a thumbnail, though the added resolution and surrounding whitespace probably help it as a composition. Please check again to see if this new image satisfies the requirements. If not, I'd appreciate any comments on how to improve the image (or any direct help!), since I'm fairly inexperienced at this, and don't have a particularly good eye for composition. :) GeeJo 23:22, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Species identification[edit]

Species identification is important for QI and FP, especially if the organism is prominent. BTW, the pretty mantis you found is a Sphodromantis viridis, Mantis religiosa has a typical black and white spot on the coxa, S. viridis can amongst other things, be recognized by the pale spot on the proximal part of its elytrae. Hello ! I am quite impressed by the quality of your images. If I may make a suggestion, it would be to write binomial names in italic and with a link: for instance Echinops sphaerocephalus instead of Echinops sphaerocephalus. Thank you for the swift response. I found myself unable to edit even though I was logged in. Furthermore there are two more proxies (194.63.235.156 and 194.63.235.155) serving this region that weren't blocked, as far as I can tell. I think they are load-balancing, so it was only a matter of chance for your traffic to go through the blocked one. I do understand your concerns, ofcourse. Hello, I'm afraid it's too long ago for me to remember. What I can tell you, though, is that I used en:Inkscape. If you search for font definitions within the SVG, you will find the following: "-inkscape-font-specification:Times New Roman;". Hope that helps. I've uploaded a cropped version of your photo, File:Carousel-slide-projector-0a.jpg over the original filename. I haven't altered the intended subject (the projector and projected image itself).
