Welcome to Wikimedia Commons, Abbe98!

Hi Abbe98, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited User:Abbe98/warper-viewer.js. Glad to see you coding in javascript! Have you ever considered becoming a MediaWiki hacker?
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 1 new jshint issue — the page's status is now having warnings. Note that invalid or ambiguous code often has unwanted side effects like breaking other tools for you. If you cannot find out how to fix it, I suggest blanking the page for now.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine. If you prefer not getting spammed by me, you can opt-out reports by adding {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} to your user page or cmb-opt-out anywhere on your your global user page on Meta. Good luck at Wikimedia Commons and happy hacking!

Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open![edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.

Dear Abbe98,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.

Thanks,
--Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 08:41, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

Your VFC installation method is deprecated[edit]

Hello Abbe98, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Thanks! --VFC devs (q) 16:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pattypan and external URLs[edit]

Hi, I'm following up your offer on Facebook to explain how to upload a set of images from external URLs. The domain is whitelisted. The GLAM Toolset would work, but since the URLs don't end in .jpg I get a "The file extension could not be determined from the file URL" error. Thanks in advance for any help. MartinPoulter (talk) 09:44, 5 September 2018 (UTC) PS I notice that where I've selected the Photograph template in Pattypan, it doesn't have the wikidata= field. That's the important one for my upload. Is it a simple tweak to add that field? MartinPoulter (talk) 10:05, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @MartinPoulter: , Thank you for reaching out, it will help us making Pattypan better. I'm starting with the question about the missing wikidata field. I will fix this and make sure it's in the next version of Pattypan. However as there is currently no plans on a release in near time I suggest you use the option to use custom wikitext.
When uploading by URL Pattypan expects an filename extension in the "name" column not in the URL therefor this is some kind of bug. Are you getting this error in the Validate or Upload view? Could you also check if you are using Pattypan 18.02? Would it be possible for you to share your spreadsheet with me so that I can reproduce the issue and research it further(albin.post@gmail.com)? --Abbe98 (talk) 13:48, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments 2020

Hej,
(For information in English, see here.)

Vinnarbilden i Wiki Loves Earth 2021!

Hej!

(For information in English, see Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 in Sweden or other participating countries.)

/Axel Pettersson (WMSE) (talk) 12:53, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations! It has bot status now. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:34, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimaps warper[edit]

Hi. You helped warping the map File:Karte von Syrien. den Manen Jacotin's und Burckhardt's gewidmet. von H. Berghaus.jpg. Thank you. The coords weren't correct and the map was twisted, so I tried again to change the template on Commons. But Wikimaps keeps showing the twisted map. How should I update wikimaps data? Danny lost (talk) 21:22, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I removed one of the control point and that fixed the issue. I don't know if it is possible for regular users to delete maps from Wikimaps Warper but you can hide the link on the File page by setting wrap_status=skip. Abbe98 (talk) 21:32, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again. Do you have an advice on how I should get pixel-coords from images in the future, in case I want to import them to Wikimaps? Danny lost (talk) 19:46, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Förra årets vinnarbild i Wiki Loves Earth!

Hej,
(For information in English, see Wiki Loves Earth 2022 in Sweden or other participating countries.)

/Axel Pettersson (WMSE) (talk) 13:40, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2022 Picture of the Year: Saint John Church of Sohrol in Iran.

Read this message in your language

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
