Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Hallo Sanan,

toll, dass Du Dich meldest. Bisher kam mir WC so menschenleer und dateivoll vor ;-)

Die Kategorie ist bei meinen ersten beiden Uploads entstanden. Ich hab sie genutzt, weil ich nicht erwartet hätte, dass diese noch nicht existent ist. OpenDataCity hat immer wieder sehr anschauliches Material, welches immer unter CC-BY 3.0 veröffentlicht wird. Da bin ich einfach davon ausgegangen, dass auch schon andere user von dort Material hochgeladen haben und irgendwer die Kategorie schon angelegt hatte.

Offenbar noch nicht :-(

Wenn Du mich nun fragst, ob die Kategorie existieren bleiben soll, dann kann ich Dir nur vage antworten, denn (wie Du weißt), bin ich bei WC noch sehr frisch und mir fehlt es noch an Gespühr.

Ich kann nur sagen:

* Ich schaue häufiger bei denen vorbei.

* Da ich nun in der deWP regelmäßig mitarbeite und meine ersten Schritte in WC auch garnicht so weh getan haben, werde ich auch weiterhin in WC Dateien einstellen.

* Ich habe mir auch vorgenommen, verschiedene Bildergesuche in meiner Gegend abzuarbeiten.

* Wenn ich mir so anschaue, in welchen Bereichen deWP / enWP / WC ich bisher etwas gemacht habe, dann ergeben sich offenbar einige Dinge, die mich dazu bringen, mal dies und mal jenes zu machen. Ich vermute also, dass (weil ich ja eh immer wieder mal bei ODC vorbeischaue) ich künftig bei tollen Veranschaulichungen, die ich dort finde, diese gern in WC hochladen und kategorisieren würde (auch wenn ich grad nicht an den entsprechenden WP-Thema arbeite) ... ist halt CC-BY 3.0 und oft fehlt mir in deWP-Artikel genau das: einfache bildliche Verdeutlichung (ein gutes Bild sagt mehr als viele Worte).

Einschätzen kann ich natürlich nicht, ob es sich lohnt, dafür eine Kategorie ODC aufrecht zu erhalten (sry, ich hab da noch keine Erfahrung). Auf der anderen Seite halte ich viel von Kategorisierung und bin inzwischen in Teilen sehr überrascht bis geschockt, wie häufig ich schon sehr schlecht kategorisiertes Material gefunden habe. Ich hab auch schon mal nen Tag damit verbracht und Bilder nachkategorisiert.

-> Bitte entscheide Du, was mit der Kategorie passieren soll. Im Zweifel kann ich ja, wenn ich merke, dass ich wirklich häufiger Grafiken von ODC hochlade, die Kategorie neu anlegen. An meine Bilder komme ich ja schnell ran und kann da ggf. sehr zügig nachkategorisieren (das ist ja ziemlich einfach mit dem Gadget :-)
