Scott C. Clarkson (born September 6, 1954) is an American lawyer and photographer based in Los Angeles. His recent travel/photography/poetry book, co-authored with Veita Jo Hampton, is "Windows to Vietnam - A Journey in Pictures & Verse". Early life and education[edit]

Born in Houston, Texas, Clarkson is the younger of two children of American professional football player Stuart Clarkson of Corpus Christi, Texas and high school teacher Arbie A. Walker of Anadarko, Oklahoma. Clarkson's father died in Sugar Land, Texas, in 1957, while was coaching a high school football game. His mother subsequently re-married and moved the family to Long Island, NY in 1959, and St. Charles, Missouri in 1962.

Career[edit]

Law and Politics[edit]

Clarkson became a member of the Bars of the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1982, District of Columbia in 1987, and State of California in 1989. He is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Initially practicing federal and state regulatory law as an inside counsel to a Fortune 500 company from 1982 to 1987, he also served as a Chapter 7 and 11 Bankruptcy Trustee in Virginia and the District of Columbia, appointed by the Office of the United States Trustee for Region 4.

He later joined a Los Angeles-based law firm and subsequently formed the law firm of Clarkson, Gore & Marsella, APLC, which has existed since 1993. Clarkson has worked with the Los Angeles County Bar Association for 18 years, has previously served as Chair of the Bankruptcy Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and presently serves as its Chair of the Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section.

Photography[edit]

Clarkson began his interest in photography with the gifts of a film camera and darkroom setup when he was 14 years old. As a photojournalist, he has documented event throughout the United States, Southeast and Central Asia, Europe and South America. He contributes to a number of media outlets, including World News Network. His recent book of photographs, co-authored with collaborator Veita Jo Hampton, "Windows to Vietnam - A Journey in Pictures & Verse", was published in 2007 and is now in its second edition. Clarkson is preparing exhibits and a new book on the regions of Pakistan and Kashmir. Clarkson uses a Hasselblad 500c/m (120/220 film), a Leica M8 (35 mm digital), A Leica R7 (35 mm film), a Nikon F100 (35 mm film) and a Nikon 90 (digital).

He is a member of the National Press Photographers Association, the American Society of Media Photographers, and the Leica Historical Society of America.
