Tips and tricks
  • Photos may not depict any architectural work.
  • The primary main subject may be another.
  • May be applied the De minimis (DM) policy.
  • Skyline of city is OK by DM, as long as it's not focused on any one building.
  • Utilitarian objects are NOT affected by the no-FoP.
  • Need to identify cases don't meet the threshold of originality.

Attention: Upload only photographs taken of buildings whose architect died before 1954.
Photographs taken of buildings located in Italy can only be uploaded to Commons if the copyright on the building has expired, because the Copyright Law of Italy forbids the publication or commercial use of photographs taken of copyrighted buildings. The copyright term in Italy for buildings is the lifetime of the architect + 70 years + the end of the calendar year. See COM:CRT/Italy#Freedom of panorama for more information. Photographs taken of other buildings will be deleted if unfree.

All these files are almost certainly violations of no-FoP for Italy.
More than 1300 files proposed and almost 300 cases of violation...

Files of Raffaello Fagnoni[edit]

Sorry, but these buildings of Raffaello Fagnoni (died 4 May 1966) are too recent and Italy has no FOP exemption (for exterior and interior).

Even if the furniture was created by Fagnoni it's design, it can stay anyway. --Sailko (talk) 22:20, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
No because they are covered by Italian copyright anyway. Raoli ✉ (talk) 22:42, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
You are right for this reason. Raoli ✉ (talk) 23:19, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
COM:DW#Isn't every product copyrighted by someone? What about cars? Or kitchen chairs? My computer case? is flawed and US-centric. Items such as furniture are copyrighted in some countries but not in other countries. For example, this particular chair was found to be protected by copyright in Sweden by a Swedish court. COM:FOP#Sweden furthermore requires works (except buildings) to be permanently installed (which can hardly be argued for this chair), so the photo of the chair may need to be deleted. I don't know if furniture is protected by copyright in Italy or not. --Stefan4 (talk) 14:03, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Not all furniture is protected by copyright in Italy, only those that are not patented and have their own creativity. The standard actually says that are considered artworks (ie copyrighted) all the creations which have a minimum of originality of the author. The standard is very vague, but my lawyer is trying to clarify them. Unfortunately, it will take time because I have to translate everything into English. Raoli ✉ (talk) 17:08, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
A chair considered artwork: File:Padiglione Comando, sala degli stemmi 06.JPG and a group of chairs not considered artwork File:Alloggio Ufficiali, sala lettura 05.JPG. This is the difference. These objects are considered non-creative: File:Alloggio Ufficiali, orologio 24h universale, emisfero boreale.JPG, File:Alloggio Ufficiali, sala lettura 06 lucernario in vetro di murano.JPG. I hope I have shown examples that help your understanding. :) Raoli ✉ (talk) 17:16, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Maybe you could expand COM:TOO#Italy and Utilitarian objects protected by copyright with some examples. :) --Stefan4 (talk) 17:18, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Raoli ✉ (talk) 16:27, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
