Dr. Faust and Me[edit]
-
My journey with Dr. Faust mainly started with my mother's admiration for the text.
-
self-taken:The rubbing of the statue showing a scene of Dr. Faust in Leipzig is supposed to be lucky.
-
Until today, I remember the lines of one of the more famous parts ("Osterspaziergang"), where the protagonist describes the changing of seasons from winter to spring.
Theme[edit]
Europe: Practised Heritage
Statement[edit]
The book of Faust: A Tragedy (German: Faust. Eine Tragödie) is my mum's favorite book and has been part of my upbringing from the very beginning. Growing up in Leipzig as well, I was able to experience this part of European culture and literature first hand by walking by different locations mentioned in the book. The literary remains of Goethe have been accepted as Documentary Heritage in 2001, which gives me the feeling of being an European citizen and a connection to literature beyond printed paper.
