User:CmdrDan/Sorting: Categories, galleries, etc...

I would love to be able to sort categories, galleries, etc.

I would love to display a "table" aka, gallery, of images sorted by any number of dimensions:

file name
date...
dimension
file type
contents of a specific field
usage
and likely much more

I believe this can be accomplished with some existing tools, it would be great if this could be enhanced and pushed out closer to typical-users.

The global usage UI widget provides some data, but just makes me hungry for more.
