Welcome to my user page. This user name and account is an alternate account of User:Bfpage created for the purpose of documenting the editing activity as a Wikipedia Visiting Scholar with the University of Pittsburgh.
Wikipedia Visiting Scholar account[edit]
The user name Barbara (WVS) is a second account set up to add and edit content and to monitor and track my edits in cooperation with the University of Pittburgh's Wikipedia Visiting Scholar Program. The account and user name that I use for my personal use and for the majority of my editing is Bfpage. I use my personal account for editing, content creation, page patrolling, vandalism reverting and other typical activities in which I engage. I do not represent the University of Pittsburgh. I don't attend the University of Pittsburgh, I am not on staff and I am not paid for my work as a Visiting Scholar. The position of Visiting Scholar allows me online access to content, references, books, journals and other digitized materials on the University of Pittsburgh's websites and library remote access resources.
What is the value of being a visiting scholar? It helps the encyclopedia by giving an editor access to a multitude of University resources that the 'scholar' can use to write content - especially medical content which is typically inaccessible due to the high costs of journal subscriptions, It helps the University participate in building the free and largest repository of human knowledge.
