Károli was aware that the translation was not without errors, as he wrote in the foreword:

I don't doubt that this work of ours, after it becomes known among people, will be envied and slandered. For just as the body is followed by the shadow, virtue, by which I mean good deeds, is followed by envy. And those who are born to slander, since they are unable to do deeds or create works similar to those of others, slander them if they cannot do more harm to them. But I care not for the envy and slanders, for as God and my good conscience are my witnesses, I've done this for nothing else but the glory of God and I had only the strengthening of His house in view.

He asks all Christian readers not to scold him for his errors, but to pinpoint them to him, so that he can correct them. His death shortly after the first publication prevented him from revising his translation. In 1608 a former student, Albert Szenczi Molnár, published a revised edition known as the Hanau Bible.

I understand at least some of these are (some highly so) contentious. They are offered here with the idea that feedback will allow me to improve and polish my attitude, if not my writing. Athankew

If you've been tuned out of the news in the last few days, or are simply feeling lost amid the maelstrom of headlines, conflicting explanations, leaks and speculation (and who could blame you), we're here to set you straight.

When everything comes together like this in one single document, within one single organization for all to read for themselves, it is almost magical.

The information was sent to me via encrypted email. But despite the cloak-and-dagger presentation, the material was ultimately disappointing - a mishmash of old stories, publically available documents which were rather dull, and others which were obvious forgeries.

This news was given to me by several sources and corroborated by someone I will identify only as a senior member of the US intelligence community. He would never volunteer anything - giving up classified information would be illegal - but he would confirm or deny what I had heard from other sources. "I'm going to write a story that says…" I would say. "I don't have a problem with that," he would reply, if my information was accurate. He confirmed the sequence of events below.

   This is big, fat, boisterous, joyful story, full of the things a military person may confront in a career, and it will present a realistic picture of an entire career for those non-military who visit.

   One of the dangers of presenting these hefty documents is that they can be intimidating for the reader, but trust us:  stick with it to the end.  You'll get an insight into a steel-trap mind which forgets nothing, you'll go inside places and situations as real as any printed words can take you.  And because most of Charlie's story is in chronological order, when it's over you will have a perfect portrait of one of the nicest men the Air Force could have asked for.

   So here we go! ...or as Charlie would say, "Jump in my Follow Me truck and lets get this thing prepared for takeoff!"
