EnglishTrujillo is a city in northwestern Peru and is the capital of La Libertad Region. The city is located on the banks of the Moche River, near its mouth at the Pacific Ocean, in a valley of great cultural hegemony with Moche and Chimu cultures at its respective time. Trujillo is known as the City of Eternal Spring, is considered the National capital of Marinera dance and cradle of typical Peruvian Paso Horse well as the Capital of Culture of Peru. It has sponsored numerous national and international cultural events, and has a lively arts community. Current festivals include the "National Marinera Contest", the "International Festival of Spring" and the "International Book Fair" among others. The city is considered Cradle of freedom, Cradle of Judiciary in Peru and received by the congress the title of Meritorious City and Faithful to the Fatherland. It is located at an average altitude of 34 meters, on the right bank of the Moche River to the Pacific Ocean, in the old valley "Chimo" today Moche Valley and Santa Catalina. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in 2007 the city had a population of 709,566 inhabitants and considering the metropolitan area the population was of 804,269.

La ciudad está situada a orillas del río Moche, cerca de su desembocadura en el Océano Pacífico, en un valle de gran hegemonía cultural de las culturas Moche y Chimú, en su respectivo tiempo. Trujillo es conocida como la Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera, es considerada la capital nacional de la danza de la Marinera y la cuna del típico caballo Peruano de Paso, así mismo es considerada como la Capital de la Cultura del Perú. En la ciudad se realizan numerosos eventos culturales nacionales e internacionales, y tiene una comunidad artística muy animada. Los Festivales actuales incluyen el "Concurso Nacional de Marinera", el "Festival Internacional de Primavera", la bienal de Arte Contemporáneo iniciada en 1983 por el artista Gerardo Chávez y la "Feria Internacional del Libro", entre otros. La ciudad es considerada la cuna de la libertad en el país, la cuna del Poder Judicial en el Perú y recibió del congreso de la república el título de Ciudad Benemérita y Fidelísima a la Patria por su preponderante papel en la lucha por la Independencia peruana. Según el Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática (INEI) en el año 2007 la ciudad contaba con una población de 709.566 habitantes, 804.269 considerando el área metropolitana.
