Photographer, or photograph?[edit]

Should this template specify the photograph, or the photographer? The documentation says (since 2010) that the parameter must be the photographer, but the text of the template presents the photographer name as a "photograph", and Asclepias suppose that «This template is for displaying the word "photograph"» (really not for attributing the photographer?) and that the "template is needed for smth. else". Should we really support some "smth. else" purposes which are incompatible with the documentation? Is this template intended for attributing the photographer's name, or for translating the word "photograph"? If you choose the second option, shouldn't we change the documentation, past 4 years? If the first one, we should correct the displayed word to be not confusing and unclear and to be consistent with the documentation and with the purpose. --ŠJů (talk) 03:04, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It is not that complicated. The template just displays word "Photograph", but is you really want to you can also ask it to create string like "Photograph: John Smith #12345" ({{Photo|John Smith|ID=#12345}}). The extra parameters are kind of pointless since you can do as much by just using "{{Photo}}: John Smidth #12345", but we would have to find and correct all the files that use that option, and that sounds like a pointless task. --Jarekt (talk) 04:34, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
