Change wording[edit]

{{Editprotected}}

Please change work of the United States Federal Government wording to:

work prepared by an officer or employee of the United States Government as part of that person’s official duties

as approved by two or three people on Commons:Village_pump#material_from_US-Gov-websites_may_not_be_PD, while the one person who objected at least did not reply to the last explanation given to him, so might have become convinced by that last explanation. The other day I came upon Commons:Deletion requests/File:Nannette Jolivette Brown.jpg, so I think it is important. Teofilo (talk) 18:46, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • As someone who has extensively used this license, this appears to be a sensible lawful update to our understanding of the terms. The detail of the sub-paragraphs with varied caveats are worth keeping in mind for related deletion requests. -- (talk) 13:11, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Clarify that work may not be public domain worldwide[edit]

An issue that has been mentioned before is that US government works may be copyrighted outside the US even though they are in the public domain in the US. To help clarify the situation, perhaps the text See Copyright. could be replaced with Copyrights may apply to this work in countries outside the United States. Thoughts? --Gazebo (talk) 08:20, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please use HTTPS URL for the U.S. Mint Terms of Use link[edit]

{{Edit request}} The purpose of this edit is to provide increased privacy and security for users and to reduce the number of redirects by having the template use an up to date HTTPS URL for the link to the U.S. Mint Terms of Use. In particular, the URL http://www.usmint.gov/policy/?action=TermsOfUse generates a series of 301 Moved Permanently redirects which eventually lead to the URL https://www.usmint.gov/policies/terms-of-use. In this template, please change http://www.usmint.gov/policy/?action=TermsOfUse to https://www.usmint.gov/policies/terms-of-use instead. Thanks. --Gazebo (talk) 16:08, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Change copyright link[edit]

{{Edit request}}

Replace:

"under the terms of Title 17, Chapter 1, Section 105 of the US Code. See Copyright."

with

"under the terms of Title 17, Chapter 1, Section 105 of the US Code."

I moved the "Title 17, Chapter 1, Section 105" link from gallery namespace (PD-USGov) to template namespace (Template:PD-USGov/17 U.S. Code § 105). It didn't make sense to store this content as a media gallery. —RP88 (talk) 17:19, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
