Cannot change from PD to CC[edit]

http://hubblesite.org/about_us/copyright.php is still valid, whatever http://www.spacetelescope.org/copyright.html says. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 08:20, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. And images acquired from http://www.spacetelescope.org before their change of policy are also still PD. For images coming from spacetelescope and not available on hubblesite, we have {{Cc-Hubble}}. –Tryphon 08:36, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But the PD from hubblesite.org is only for „Material credited to STScI“. What do we do with material credited to ESA? How do we sort out which of these pictures are prior the license-changing and which are after? --Quedel (talk) 18:17, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please use HTTPS for the Internet Archive link to the ESA/Hubble copyright page[edit]

{{Edit request}} Please change http://web.archive.org/web/20081218213821/http://www.spacetelescope.org/copyright.html to https://web.archive.org/web/20081218213821/http://www.spacetelescope.org/copyright.html instead. The Internet Archive supports HTTPS and this change should provide increased privacy and security for users. Thanks. --Gazebo (talk) 06:26, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Should we create PD-Webb?[edit]

Finally we know how JWST images will be released, with a clear copyright statement:

No surprise, it's basically the same terms as Hubble, as both telescopes are run by the same people at STScI. Should we create Template:PD-Webb to have a clear and beautiful licence banner for JWST images? Right now I don't see any ESA/CSA copyright fuss.

You have my support, hopefully ESA and CSA don't make things more complicated.--BugWarp (talk) 02:23, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Same, you have my support. If (and, let's face it, when) ESA decides to complicate the issue, we can create a counterpart template. Huntster (t @ c) 02:50, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Huntster @BugWarp ESA just listened to you guys and decided to release Webb images in CC-BY 4.0 :D vip (talk) 22:22, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, time to create Template:PD-Webb and Template:ESA-Webb, haha.--BugWarp (talk) 23:22, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done! vip (talk) 18:23, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
