Finnish Copyright Act title and year[edit]

{{Editprotected}} Currently the template refers to the Finnish copyright law. However Copyright Act is the title used in the published English translation of the act. I think this should be fixed. It also refers it as the "law of 2005", although it was enacted in 1961. (The section 49a was last amended in 2015.). So, I would write the sentence as follows: "The section 49a of the Finnish Copyright Act of 1961 specifies that photograph ––". ––Apalsola tc 16:33, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe "The section 49a of the Finnish Copyright Act of 1961 (amended in 2015) specifies that photograph ––" ? --Jarekt (talk) 14:16, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jarekt, yes, that would probably be good. Another option is to include the act number, a common practice in Finland, as follows: "The section 49a of the Finnish Copyright Act (404/1961, amended 607/2015) specifies that photograph ––" ––Apalsola tc 15:01, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The section [https://www.finlex.fi/fi/laki/ajantasa/1961/19610404#P49a 49a] of the Finnish Copyright Act (404/1961, amended 607/2015) specifies that photographs not considered to be "works of art" become public domain 50 years after they were created. The 50 years from creation protection period came into force in 1991. Before that the protection period was 25 years from the year of first publication according to the §16 of the law of protection of photographs of 1961. Material already released to public domain according to the 1961 law remains in public domain, and therefore all photographs (but not photographic works of art) released before 1966 are in the public domain. Which adds a closing span, check of other language translations (checktransl) requested because I think this same error may have propogated to other translated versions. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 21:49, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

{{Edit request}} Remove redundant spacing after " See Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Finland for details." A1Cafel (talk) 03:05, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@A1Cafel: Can you clarify which redundant spacing you mean? Is all of it in this template or is this also an edit request for Template:PD-Finland50/layout? Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 15:15, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Lucas Werkmeister: Yeah, the edit should be at Template:PD-Finland50/layout. Remove one <br> after {{{text|empty}}}. --A1Cafel (talk) 15:28, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
