Extension[edit]

I would propose to add a parameter taking the software that is beeing used. Otherwise it is hard to identify which part of the string following the template actually is the software and what is additional information. --Arnd (talk) 06:06, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please provide an example of such a case? --Leyo 11:57, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure if there is such an example and where. However, this loose coupling between template and the text will make it more difficult to parse, analyze etc. Furthermore, it means that implizitly all text in the source parameter must belong to the template what restricts the freedom of the author. The template and the connected value form an entity and should be represented in this way. --Arnd (talk) 12:37, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Why doesn't e.g. Template:Own have a parameter then? IMHO your arguments are also valid there. --Leyo 13:43, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As i understand {{Own}} is standalone since it always revers to what is declared for author attribute. --Arnd (talk) 09:22, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there are many cases of e.g. {{Own}} by user (example). --Leyo 10:08, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
true, but for me this is redundant information which can be deleted. But ok for me not to change the template. Maybe it is more work than benefit. --Arnd (talk) 13:09, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I am not opposing your suggestion, but I would like to have a consistent approach, i.e. inclusion of Template:Own and Template:Self-photographed. What about asking for more opinions? --Leyo 13:38, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
