HTML DOM-Tree-Fragment from File:Istiklal Marsi-TSK.ogg. Note the extra <span class="fn"> in the English description. Background information at User:Rillke/SandboxInfo. I don't know whether it is wanted having just the English title there but if it is, there must be instructions to always put the title that should be read by crawlers must be the first in that field.

Performing artist[edit]

I see the template is using Occupation even though the string is defined in Musical work/i18n. Is there a way to make the template use Musical work/i18n if a translation is provided there? “Performing artist” is ambiguous so in theory that string in Occupation can be untranslatable in some languages. @Jarekt: looks like you added this change[1]. Do you have an opinion here? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:25, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Magog the Ogre and Al12si: , The edits introdicing the use of {{Occupation}} were made by me 11 years ago. Back then my thinking was to use {{Occupation}} for roles which were listed in that template and introduce {{Musical work/i18n}} for the rest, even if that template would initially have much less translations. Those days, my go-to place for quality translations is Wikidata, for example "performing artist (Q713200)". I am no longer in favor of templates like {{Musical work/i18n}}, because so few people contribute new translations to them, and if we have some translations Wikidata does not it is easy to transfer them. Great many templates, like city names (ex. {{Paris}}) were swiched over to Wikidata long time ago. --Jarekt (talk) 04:16, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the clarification. I think it’s still a good idea to have separate translations in Musical work/i18n because in some languages, the labels used for labelling musical works do not correspond to the names of the occupations. This applies to, for example, CJK languages in general. I’ll see if I can figure out a way to make a fallback chain work. Al12si (talk) 20:20, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Works with this template are categorized in Category:Files with no machine-readable author[edit]

This shouldn't happen if they have the composer, lyrics_writer and performer parameters filled out. See for example File:Carlos Gardel- Pobre mi madre (1912).ogg. Does this need to be fixed in the template, or elsewhere? —CalendulaAsteraceae (talkcontribs) 05:17, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
