Right now, the URLs given to photos from LAC are quite messy; hopefully, someday they will be standardized, so the "reference number" field can be used to create a URL. --Padraic 17:53, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Copyright status

While some parts of the LAC catalogue mention "no restrictions", LAC has made it clear that it has not given permission for free use. This does not apply to PD works, but does apply to those LAC images currently using Template:CopyrightedFreeUse. --Padraic 15:31, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

"Please tag this images with {{LAC|x|y}}, where 'x' is the reproduction reference number, and 'y' is the MIKAN ID number. This will automatically place images in this category."

How does one determine the "reproduction reference number" of a LAC image? (I have no problem identifying the MIKAN number - it comes up in an image search at LAC. The image I want to copy to Wikipedia has MIKAN no. 3317792.) --Robkelk (talk) 20:41, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

changing database links

{{Edit request}} Hi, I am a project manager with LAC. We are changing our collections database this summer, so the links in the template need to be changed to point to the correct database. Could you please change the links with the ones below? I believe this is the equivalent of the old code, but am not completely sure what the format was. If I’ve got the code wrong, please let me know and I will figure it out.

@Vpendakur:  Done. Please add some description for the parameters on the documentation subpage and translate the template description into French (if you speak French; please indicate languages you speak on your user page, like how I did on mine, so that others know in what languages you can communicate here). One more question: are these MIKAN IDs strictly numbers, i.e. no leading zeros, no characters other than digits? If yes, I can adjust the template documentation so that template insertion tools can validate this and provide more convenient parameter value input. @Tacsipacsi Thank you very much. This is great! Sorry for the late reply. I added the language bar to my page, and I believe I added the parameter descriptions in english and french.
