Why does the field Permission link to some information below and doesn't itself contain the license information? It looks much better, when the license-template is used in the Permission field (see ex. Image:IKUE-Flago_(02).svg). --PAD (talk) 08:41, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"See below" is only the default. If you specify a value for the "permission" parameter it will be shown instead of "see below". If you put the licence template into "permission" it will be shown right there. There is no widely accepted consensus on where to put the licence templates. It's mostly done on personal preference, some put it in the template, some put it beneath the template. --Slomox (talk) 14:35, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but in a similar way we could write See below as the default also ex. in the field Description. If we have a template, why not to use it? I would prefer a default text about lack of license information in the field Permission. --PAD (talk) 18:22, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I support this. Most times I put the licence template into "permission" too. But from historical reasons there are hundreds of thousands images which have their licence templates below the information template. If you change the default to licence info lacking all these images will incorrectly state a lack of licence, when in fact the licence is present below. So you first have to change those hundreds of thousands images before you can change the default. You can seek consensus for the move, program a bot and change all the images. But that will be much work. --Slomox (talk) 19:28, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
At least the standard upload form could place the license info to the template, not below it. It shouldn't be a problem. --PAD (talk) 10:05, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
