Filename extension with 'a' does not work anymore[edit]

As Bildindex changed its website functionality the fname Parameter of the Template From Bildindex, which automatically adds an "a" to the filename, produces a dead filelink ("404 not found"). Example: Bildindex der Kunst und Architektur: object 00000001 – image file fm192356a.jpg

Manual solution: Add the noext=yes Parameter. Example: Bildindex der Kunst und Architektur: object 00000001 – image file fm192356 (JPEG file without extension) However this would need to changes thousands of image files using the template!

A better solution would be to change the template in that way, that the "noext=yes" Option is always used and is the new standard. HeinrichStuerzl (talk) 14:40, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It works for me: http://www.bildindex.de/bilder/fm192356a.jpg which is the link produced by the template (at time of writing) is redirected to https://previous.bildindex.de/bilder/fm192356a.jpg here. Nethertheless I think you are right that some work for the template is necessary. I will look at this, but do not want to promise, how fast this will happen. — Speravir23:38, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For me it does not work. I do not see this redirection. No idea why. - HeinrichStuerzl (talk) 05:47, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But the previous… link does work, Heinrich? BTW also the link for noext=yes is a redirect: The template produces in the moment http://www.bildindex.de/bilder/d/fm192356, but the result is another link to the previous-subdomain, i.e. https://previous.bildindex.de/bilder/d/fm192356 – or do you get another link? — Speravir22:55, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the previous... link works. The link for noext=yes works fine like the previous... link but remains as it is i.e. https://www.bildindex.de/bilder/d/fm192356. So I do not see the previous... link which is new for me. - HeinrichStuerzl (talk) 20:47, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Very strange, this different behaviour. — Speravir23:09, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’ve now updated some links. Speaking of the template needing some revision: I just noticed that the parameter phnr does not work at all anymore! :-( And this cannot be fixed by a bot. ;,(. — Speravir23:35, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, the redirection works now for fm192356a.jpg! So my problem is solved :-) The noext=yes behaviour remains the same which is quite OK for me because I would not need this option. Thands for your support! - HeinrichStuerzl (talk) 16:19, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Normally I would not use the phnr option. - HeinrichStuerzl (talk) 16:21, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My remark regarding phnr was not meant in reaction to you. I simply discovered it while investigating the links. (The design at Bildindex has been changed years ago, and the feature with links to a distinctive photo number must have gone then, too. Strange, that noone has ever complained about this.) — Speravir00:25, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
