Template:PD-old-assumed/sandbox

Public domain
The copyright situation of this work is theoretically uncertain, because in the country of origin copyright lasts 70 years after the death of the author, and the date of the author's death is unknown. However, the date of creation of the work was over 120 years ago, and it is thus a reasonable assumption that the copyright has expired (see here for the community discussion). Do not use this template if the date of death of the author is known.

This template will categorize into Category:PD Old (assumed).

Warning signPlease use {{PD-old-auto-expired}}, {{PD-old-auto-1996}}, or {{PD-old-auto}} in preference to this template if the date of death is known. Please use {{PD-old-70}} or {{PD-old-70-expired}} if the work was created by an unknown author more than 190 years ago (i.e. before 1834), as it is literally impossible for that author to have lived for another 120 years after creating the work. (The oldest verified human age in history is 120, for Jeanne Calment, and even she did not take photographs while a baby.)

The licensing Template:PD-old-assumed automatically re-calculates the current public-domain year span, based on the duration of the term for copyright protection in the country where the work was first published.
