Page Huddersfield is not to be categorised in Category:Train stations in West Yorkshire as it is not a stations, but a town. Categorise the photos of the station in Category:Train stations in West Yorkshire, that is called category redundancy to an extent. The page will be nominated for deletion as it is redundant to Category:Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and is not needed. The page will be uncategorised and the en:WP:3RR instigated if you continue to badly categorise this page, this is your first warning. Captain Scarlet 18:22, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I accept your comments of Categorisation, regarding train stations, however please note:-

  • Your message style is brusque and unnacceptably confrontational.
  • You are not a Wikimedia Commons Admin and have no authority to warn anyone in such a manner.
  • en:WP:3RR is irrelevant to wikimedia commons.
  • I originally created both categories and Page Huddersfield.
  • The only images on it, to-date, are ones that I have created and uploaded.
  • You have the categories the wrong way around. Category:Huddersfield is the correct usage, as per en:wiki:Category:Huddersfield. I had been re-categorising the images, but was delayed by unforseen events.
  • Category:Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, which is the redundant category, has now been deleted.
  • You seem to have missed the, very large, bold font, message at the top of this page, requesting that messages are not posted here!
  • I consider this matter to be closed.
  • As per the above I will not respond to further messages on this page.

Thank you for your time! Richard Harvey 14:53, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • You can't claim my messages are brusque simply because they are against your actions, you must be responsible for them.
  • Any member has all the rights and responsibility to warn any other Wikipedian of any wrong doing, administrators are those who act on warnings, it is contributors which edit and in some cases counter edit articles in case of wrong doing.
  • Is it?
  • Huddersfield has no reason to exist since you've yourself created it at the same time as Category:Huddersfield.
  • If you had any plans to categorise the page you should have categorised it when i removed the redundant categories rather than reverting it, your actions do not support your sayings and rather support the contrary.
  • The existance of Category:Huddersfield, West Yorkshire was not of my doing although is consistant with naming convention. Watever its name the article Huddersfield is to be deleted and all photographies and documents categorised into the appropriate categories.
  • Regardless of the message any queries I have for you concerning the Comons will be posted here and you risk of missing information if you do not refer to your talk page, it is your responsability to read your talkpage on any project you are registered upon or you will miss administratorial decisions being made. Captain Scarlet, galleries and categories work in different ways, and since there is no consensus on which is the best, they are allowed to co-exist. Huddersfield has a reason to exist, simply because someone wants it. I find it practical to have such a gallery page, since the images have descriptions; rather than having to look at each separate image page in the category, I can read all of them on one page. Your claim that «Huddersfield is to be deleted» is just your personal wish and not a fact; if you want it deleted, go through the proper procedure by starting a deletion discussion. You should also consider your tone towards other users; the basic rule is to assume good faith and not to assume that Richard Harvey was vandalizing the article. He needed guidance, not warnings. How do ou think I would have proceeded to get the page deleted? Done it myself, if I say the page ought to be deleted itmeans I'm about to nominazte it for deletion, just like you do on a regular basis. Maybe you could apply the same behaviour you're accusing me of using now. If bad faith is accusing someone then look in a mirror. Pages on the Commons have no point and no interest in the categorisation of documents and serve only as a doubling of a more than likely existing category of the same name. Cnyborg, you're the only one accusing of vandalism here, maybe you would check category redundancy before checking my contribution list. I've treeted this page the same wayany other would have been and cleaned it, a bot would have done the same using AWB.
If you'd like to have a serious discussion we can continue this, but as this is bordering on trolling and I'm not going to be a party to it. Cnyborg 14:01, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
