I have revised this page. There are 3 main subspecies:
- subsp. lycoctonum: Northern and Eastern Europe (Russia)
- subsp. vulparia (Rchb.) Nyman: widespread in Central Europe
- subsp. neapolitanum (Ten.) Nyman: mountains of Southern Europe
Two other subspecies are endemics of Eastern Europe:
- subsp. lasiostomum (Rchb. ex Besser) K.Warncke
- subsp. moldavicum (Hacq.) Jalas
No pictures of these subspecies are availble yet.
