Routemasters with Concorde, Showbus 2004

English: Showbus is an annual bus rally and exhibition held in the grounds of the Imperial War Museum Duxford at Duxford Aerodrome in Cambridgeshire. The 2004 event coincided with celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the iconic Routemaster bus (the prototype RM1 (reg. SLT 56) was unveiled at the Commercial Motor Show in September 1954). For Showbus 2004 therefore, the opportunity was taken to pose Routemaster buses alongside the museum's Concorde supersonic airliner (No. 101, reg. G-AXDN, the third prototype of the aircraft), inside the museum's Hangar 1 (re-launched in 2008 as the AirSpace exhibit). RM1 was positioned infront of the aircraft's nose (which sits lower than the full height of a Routemaster). Prototype RM3 was then positioned to RM1's port side and to its rear, and other Routemasters were then parked up in turn in the opposite position to RM3. Later, RM3 was replaced with other examples too. Another large exhibit present in the hangar at the time (to the port side of Concorde) was XJ824, a Vulcan B.2 bomber.
