Unusually, the fleetnumbers RML2516 / DRM2516 / RML2283 (and related registrations) have been used by three different Routemaster buses over time, as follows:
Date | Bus 1 | Bus 2 | Bus 3 | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
1960s | RM516 (WLT 516) | RML2516 (JJD 516D) | RML2283 (CUV 283C) | Original identities |
1991 | DRM2516 (JJD 516D) | Bus 2 fitted with Cummins engine & platform doors by London Buses, leading to the one-off re-classification as a DML, transferring to private hire duties | ||
1994 | RM516 (MFF 518) | DRM2516 (WLT 516) | Having been withdrawn, Bus 1 is re-registered by London Buses prior to sale (and then exported to Kenya) - Bus 2, newly privatised to London General is then given the plate, presumably to mask the age of DRM2516 | |
2005 | RML2283 (JJD 516D) | DRM2516 (WLT 516) | Bus 1 & 2 are withdrawn to store at Camberwell (Q) in January 2005 - the rear end and fittings of bus 2 are fitted to bus 3, which is also given its number and registration. Bus 3 re-enters the General private hire fleet in January 2006 - the remains of bus 2 (renumbered with bus 3's number) are sold on | |
? | RML2516 (JJD 516D) | Bus 3 is rebuilt and enters preservation, in the process regaining its original number - in 2013 it's bought by Ghost Bus Tours and painted black |
