English: Routemaster bus RM1627 (reg. 627 DYE) was delivered to London Transport in June 1963, with a Leyland engine. It was used in London until withdrawal in June 1984. In 1986 it saw further use in the Blackpool Transport fleet (523) and then the Reading Mainline fleet (38), who in 1997 fitted it with an AEC engine. In 2000 it was one of a batch of buses bought back by London Bus Services Ltd, being rebuilt and re-engined (Cummins) by Marshall's of Cambridge, for further use in London. It went into operation on route 13 for Sovereign Bus & Coach, before being finally withdrawn in October 2005. After being returned to LBSL, it was selected as one of the few buses to continue in service on the Routemaster Heritage Routes, going into service allocated to First London on London Buses heritage route 9 from November 2005.
