English: Harriet Quimby (May 11, 1875 – July 1, 1912) was the first female to gain a pilot license in the United States. In 1911 she earned the first U.S. pilot's certificate issued to a woman by the Aero Club of America, and on April 16, 1912 she became the first woman to fly across the English Channel.
Svenska: Harriet Quimby, (11 maj 1875 - 1 juli 1912), amerikansk journalist och flygpionjär. Den 1 augusti 1911 erhöll hon sitt flygcertifikat som den första kvinnan i USA. Den 16 April 1912 flög hon som första kvinnliga pilot över Engelska kanalen.
