Note: Canada has only a 35% ratio not 67% like USA, thus the color is incorrect. the preceding unsigned comment is by 208.181.80.65 (talk • contribs)

Canada is listed as 69% at the CIA factbook --Astrokey44 22:45, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is hard to believe that the USA has fallen from over 60 to below 40 % in less than 1 year, especially with the cost of the war in Iraq. Baronnet 11:46, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to Statistics Norway [1] the country has a much lower debt (52% of GDP) than what is stated in the CIA factbook [2] (83,1% of GDP). --80.108.4.238 17:19, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Color scheme[edit]

The last color scheme (9 juin 2009 à 16:10) is ugly — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.205.199.190 (talk • contribs) 18:54, 12 November 2009 (UTC) (UTC)[reply]

As the author of that version, I think I owe an explanation. The purpose was to make a color scale with a single transition (the previous one had two, a green and a reddish one), in order to allow a more intuitive visual comparison. For example, with the former, you had no visual clue that Brazil and Argentina are very close to each other in debt, and had to use the legend to understand that.
I did try several single-gradient color schemes, trust me, and this was the one that was "less ugly", to use your terms. It might not be great, but the purpose of information visualization is to be useful and convey information visually in an accurate way -- not being cute ;)
But of course, feel free to submit your own version if you believe this can be (and I'm sure it can) made better. Cheers, Waldir talk 19:39, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I understand what you're saying, but I actually found the previous red-green map easier to read. -- 96.243.97.43 00:50, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, this is my post. I did not realize I was logged out. -- Saaga (talk) 00:53, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Would it be possible to go back to the previous colour scheme (from green to red), which was far more legible ? Or to create another version of the map with this green to red colour scheme besides this blueish one ? I would do it myself if I knew how to... Baronnet (talk) 17:15, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I finally did it myself, using the most recent CIA data. Baronnet (talk) 18:59, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think the 2009 version was better than actual version: Colorblind people can not read the actual map. Awa43 (talk) 08:14, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
