Discussion[edit]

@Gotitbro and Ytpks896: I think we should talk to avoid edit-warring. Messaging the creator of the contentious map will not help reaching consensus either. Gotitbro, you mentioned the en WP in your 06:32, 17 November 2021 revert; could you give the link to the discussion there was on the en WP you alluded to? Veverve (talk) 07:19, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last major discussion when the map was released (or re-released rather). The consensus was that while seemingly disputed in certain official maps, it is an unenforced claim, with the only merit being of a single line mention. The major contention is that a consensus is required to enact a change on ubiquitous orthographic maps especially since it has been stable for years and the dispute is not recognized on international maps as such. @Gotitbro, Ytpks896, and Veverve: I'm a graphic worker so I have zero knowledge on the actual situation regarding this or maps I create as requests. There is and will always be different points of views of most things in life and borders is one of them. Commons is this, "Wikimedia Commons is a media file repository making available public domain and freely licensed educational media content (images, sound and video clips) to everyone", it's NOT a wikipedia encyclopedia. This means that the media here doesn't need to be "true" as long as it's "educational media". It's really encouraged to upload different versions of a map/issue.
