The version that is currently used spreading misinformation

This is just as bad as the old blue Neptune image, use my new accurate version[edit]

In the article sourced it shows this image of what Neptune looks like and it’s nothing like this picture Funnynick259 (talk) 03:32, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2003 STIS photos from Hubble apparently show Neptune and Uranus being quite close to the new version being used. Xander11012 (talk) 02:27, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
According to the paper that is cited (Where the first comparison picture is from), the newer picture does look more accurate. I believe the cited September 2023 paper to be more accurate than the 2003 STIS photos. Either way, either the images or the citation should be worked out. We needs refs/links to the supporting data. This image is quite close to what I've seen for the correction, and the proposed "correction" much too blue. Kwamikagami (talk) 01:38, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The color image you are attempting to match the color to is actually a pre-Irwin processing by Bjorn Jonsson, and isn't actually a result from this paper. It's not gamma-corrected, and the "true color" was determined using only filter mixing (not calibration against spectra), so the color quality of this picture is worse (If you read further down the paper, you can find extra figures showing the true color of Neptune that have actually been calibrated).
