This map is not correct. First Alaska and Hawaii have not had executions since 1976. More difficult are states like Kansas and New York which should be both orange and green according to the current legend. Also California status has within the last week changed to unconstitutional. I would just like to point out that New Jersey is on the brink of abolishing the Death Penalty [ref.]. It has not happend yet, but will probably happen soon. Just want to make sure if it is abolished that the map will promptly be changed, so be on the lookout.Aufs klo 03:36, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Corrections made[edit]

According to several users on the Wikipedia talk page for this image, California should be red, and Hawaii and Alaska should be blue. I've made these changes, as far as I can tell they are correct - Hawaii and Alaska are obvious errors; only California's lethal injection procedures have been declared unconstitutional, and even then, only by a lower court (remember California also has the gas chamber on the books). --Shadowlink1014 07:48, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excluding federal gov't[edit]

Another concern from the Wikipedia talk page, I've added a note that this map refers only to state-level law. --Shadowlink1014 08:03, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DC[edit]

Whats the status in DC? Wondering because if I make a language neutral version of this map then DC will be visible./Lokal_Profil 17:22, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nebraska[edit]

I have changed Nebraska to orange, per that state's supreme court ruling today (Feb 8, 2008). When the Nebraska legislature authorizes an alternative method, it should be colored back to red. Shadowlink1014

The "Key"[edit]

I think the information in the "key" should be removed. It currently looks like "Blue states are Washington DC" whereas what it is trying to convey is "Washington DC has no death penalty". --Falcorian (talk) 23:16, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Illinois[edit]

Why it isn't blue in the map? It abolished capital punishment from 2011... --84.222.165.78 22:20, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting us know—this has been ✓ Corrected by Gce (talk · contribs) and now Illinois is indeed marked blue. odder (talk) 08:48, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, Illinois should be striped, like New Mexico and Connecticut, having performed 12 executions since 1976. --Spiffy sperry (talk) 19:41, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

California[edit]

Map still incorrect for California: no execution since 2006 and ruled unconstitutional in July 2014 by a Fed Judge (appeal before the 9th circuit?). villy 20:31, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
