Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Waterman Monument. In 1901, the Daughters of the American Revolution erected this monument at the site of a burying ground from the 1777-78 Valley Forge encampment. Named for Lieutenant John Waterman (1728–1778), Quartermaster of the 2nd Rhode Island Regiment, who died of smallpox. Waterman's grave was marked by a headstone, the rest of the graves at Valley Forge were unmarked.
